I've been sharing a lot of beautiful pictures of Jupiter on Twitter and Tumblr lately, and I found myself wondering which planets other people like best. Feel free to talk about why your favorite is your favorite, and definitely feel free to share pictures!

I've always liked the look of Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, and some others, but I think I'll go with Jupiter!
I like the pattern and colors of it's storms.

Definitely Earth. It is the only planet in our solar system to have a breathable atmosphere, and therefore different biomes. Most other planet surfaces are fairly uniform, but Earth is so varied in its geography. It is also the only place that contains life that we currently know about, which is obviously a big deal.

This is Lake Retba, located in Senegal. It is a pink lake which is notable for its especially high salt content.

This is Ijen, a volcano in Indonesia. It is notable for its blue lava, shown above.

As for planets outside Earth, it's fairly difficult because they are all very unique and interesting, and we are still learning so much about all of them. That being said, Jupiter is really nice.

hard choice. it was originally mars. not because of any aesthetics, but i played a lot of spore as a kid and grew up fixated on the concept of colonization. but i've grown to kinda appreciate earth in recent years.
neptune is super pretty however, i have to go with it.

Oh, I also enjoyed the Space Stage of Spore. Did you know that Venus is actually considered by some people to be a better candidate than Mars for colonization? This is due to its more Earth-like gravity and closer proximity to Earth. Of course, the prospects are still incredibly uncertain, but we may be able to build cloud cities in the planet's atmosphere. This video goes into more detail if you are interested.

My favorite planet is Neptune. It has a beautiful color and I love the name.

I always had a bias for Jupiter cause Sailor Jupiter was my fav scout growing up cause we both are tall girls. =0

I learned about Lake Retba a few months back, but I never heard of volcanoes with blue lava before! That is really cool! :D It is truly fascinating that the blue is caused by ignited sulfuric gases, it makes me wonder why other volcanoes in the world do not have this phenomenon taking place?

This article by Smithsonian might be of some help. If I am correct in reading it, it's because though other volcanoes do not have such a high amount of sulfur, which means they cannot have such a vivid color. It's also technically not the lava that is blue, but the fire from burning sulfur.

Pluto is a planet and is the best one at that.

The worst planet is Earth due to the people who live on it.

My favorites are Earth and Mars. Earth because it’s where we live and Mars because I’m hoping to see someone land on Mars successfully in the future. :)

Jupiter. Just because I have a crush on sailor Jupiter ehehehe ok

Pluto!

I have to admit: i specifically clicked to see if pluto was an option and if it wasn't i was prepared to throw hands

Outside of Earth? Mars. Just an absolutely fascinating planet. I can't wait to see what we continue to uncover about it.
