I was having a discussion with a friend about this subject. It started out with us discussing if they ever added an actual villager to Smash who would it be. We then started speculating on which villager best represents 'the face' of Animal Crossing.

So here we are...which villager would you pick?

My vote went to Rosie. Although I've never had her as a neighbor, she has been in every iteration of the game and was also in the film. Merchandise wise, she is almost always included as well, whether it be plush or figures or Furuta eggs.

I'd probably say Bob, Lucky, or Octavian. Others may not like Octavian, but he's been synonymous with Animal Crossing for as long as I can remember.

Part of me wants to say Stitches.

It isn’t because the Lazy bear cub is my avatar.

Forum member Valeris’s avatar is Lucky. That is also a good choice.

I think it would have to be a character who is classic.

It could not be a villager who traces back no further than “New Leaf.” So, that would eliminate the likes of Julian and Marshal.

One who also springs to mind is Goldie.

Last night [Sunday, 03.28.2021], I played “Super Mario Kart 8.” It has been a while. The “Animal Crossing” track included, if I remember correctly, characters like Fang and Rosie. It also included Punchy. But it did not include Stitches or Lucky or Goldie. I can look at it again, just to make sure, but I can say that that really isn’t determining the answer to this thread’s question.

I really don’t think any one villager is the lynchpin. If any character is tops, I think people could have a debate between Tom Nook vs. Isabelle.

Stitches and Goldie occurred to me as well...and I had the same train of thought, it would have to be a classic character.

I only meant to include neighbors...if we were including the special characters my vote would go to Tom Nook. If the rumor mill is anything to go by (and why the conversation I had earlier happened in the first place) Tom Nook will eventually be making his way to Smash.

imo, bob has always been one of animal crossing’s staple characters - despite his fairly ordinary appearance, he stands out to me for other reasons such as his birthday being the first of every year, his involvement in the ac movie, his being in every game thus far and the fact that whenever a company drops ac merch, he is almost always included. this probably won’t make sense but for me, i associate every villager with something - whether it’s a memory, dislike for them, etc but with bob, he’s always been the embodiment of animal crossing in my eyes; calm, colourful and iconic.

Bluebear maybe? I just distinctly remember her from the gamecube game and she feels like a classic villager to me. I agree with everyone saying Bob though.

i'd agree with you on rosie - she's the iconic animal crossing villager i think. but bob is another good choice

Definitely Rosie or Bob at least for me. Leaning more to Rosie though, especially because she was a main character of the anime.

Bob.

He will always be what Animal Crossing is to me.

Rosie or Bob were the first ones to spring to mind, for the same reasons several others mentioned.

I cant explain why but I feel like Bunnie is super iconic. Her design is very unique and old school.

I agree with those saying Bob. I'm fairly new to the series and Bob was one of the first villagers I got to know by name, he seemed to just show up everywhere. Lucky seems pretty iconic as well, but I think that him being one of the more morbid/ dark villagers (as far as AC goes with morbid and dark) doesn't really make him a great representative for the whole series. Bob's simpler design however would easily work.

Bob simply because I have friends who have never played Animal Crossing in their lives and would never play Animal Crossing in their lives, but they still know Bob.

I vote Rosie, I see her a lot and she was also the main character in the movie. But I think Bob could be a good one too

I 100% agree with Rosie. Great choice. I dont think there is a better villager out there for this. And I'm saying that without bias as I don't even like Rosie :p

Really struggling to understand the logic behind those that say Bob though. Outside of being a meme in the community, he's not iconic at all as far as I'm aware.

I immediately thought of Rosie too but I’d also say Goldie as she’s consistently used as an “intro”-type character in spin-offs like HHD and PC.

I don't really know why, but I think Bunnie. Maybe because she was the first 'popular' villager I ever had, back on Wild World when I didn't even know there were popular villagers! I'm not even a huge fan of hers really, but she just seems sort of iconic, and has appeared multiple times on cover art now.
