Who are you, and why will you play AC:NH?

This is a nice thread, I appreciate seeing different kinds of people who play animal crossing. It really shows how special the game is and how it is made for everyone. :lemon:
Agreed! I love how diverse the AC community is; it really connects people of all kinds and ages!

Who am I?
Hi! I'm Jasmijn, 27 years old and I live in The Netherlands. I work full time as a teacher's assistant at a special needs primary school.

Why do I play?
I fell in love with Animal Crossing for the Gamecube as a kid. My brother and I would get up super early on the weekends and take turns playing and watching eachother play the entire day when possible. I love the freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want. And it's a great escape from the responsibilities and stresses of real life sometimes.

Teenager, female, from Germany. Currently a student but want to be a graphic designer :)
I'm playing because I have adored the game series for years now and more or less patiently waited for this new mainline game. It helped me through mental health struggles and a lot of hard times so it always has a special place in my heart :')

Animal Crossing is the epitome of escapism. In life, we all face challenges of varying degrees and we are all subjected to the stresses and strains of day-to-day living. Animal Crossing gives us a happy place we can go to where nothing is expected of us. We can simply exist and progress at our own pace. Animal Crossing gives me a unique feeling of disconnecting from real life more so than any other game I've played. There is something special about Animal Crossing; a kind of rare quality that keeps you invested years after you first start.

I am megan, a 22 year old college student set to graduate with my nursing degree in may!

why do I play?

Animal crossing helped me escape from all of my stress and allowed me to pretend to be someone else while I was going through a ton of traumatic stuff. I was very withdrawn and isolated myself growing up, so aside from my online friends I never made any connections until I went to college. Animal crossing gave me somewhere to feel safe and care-free, something I wasnt when I had to be my actual self ^^;
Also it's really fun to play with my sister who lives almost 2 hours away!

i?m Xara, a soon-to-be 18yr old high school student.

i play animal crossing because it?s fun and relaxing for me and also gives me the chance to meet and interact with new people which is something i don?t do very often.

Who am I
Hi, my names Hannah. I?m 22 and live in England with my parents and my twin brother. I?m a huge animal lover and own a cat called Jingles, a guinea pig called Pearl and a tank of tropical fish. I studied Animal Management at college and now I work as a dog groomer. I?m a typical young person. Full of self doubt and worry. I?m not really sure what I?m doing with my life. I?m just kinda rolling along at this point.

Why I play
I?ve loved Animal Crossing since I first played Wild World. Back when I first started playing it as a kid it was just a fun game about animals. As I got older, it become an escape from reality. School was pretty stressful for me. It didn?t fit in there. But I did in my AC world. And then I ended up getting home schooled so my circle of friends got even smaller. But that was alright cause I could simply switch on my DS and go hang out with my animal friends.

Even with New Leaf, and soon to be New Horizons, it?s just an escape from the real world for me. For those few precious hours I don?t have to think about me. My life. How I fit in to it all. I can just be. And relax. And not be judged. I can do what ever I feel like doing, if anything at all. There?s no pressure, no responsibility. Just kindness and peace. It?s just a nicer world to live in I guess. Even if it just for a little while.

Im Hyrule_Crossing, but my Friends just call me Hyrule, Im a young Teen who loves animal crossing sense it makes me feel not lonely, its also fun to play in general.

Very well said, James. Thank you for responding.

Why do I play?

I started playing with Wild World and the Gamecube versions about 14 years ago, so I became fan and been one since. I'm really into games that let you play at your own pace, such as: adventure, RPGs, open world, sandbox, etc. I don't really like competitive games.

I’m Megan a 26 year old woman who’s been playing since Wild World first came out
I play because I thoroughly enjoy the Animal Crossing series.

My name is Jade, I am 25. Engaged and I have one furry child (Merlin). I am currently unemployed due to moving house but I am actively looking!

I will be playing animals crossing as my fianc? will be deployed and I have found in the past that AC is veryyy helpful with anxiety so I'm hoping NH will not break that streak so I can have something to focus on whilst my OH is away.

I absolutely agree with what James said about the game, but to add my own two cents...

I fell in love with the series since I've played the GameCube version. Animal Crossing is my stress free zone where I don't have to worry about the things that can make a game experience stressful. Other people, competition, time or peer pressure, performance...
I can relax, have fun, get creative and do my thing, at my own pace. And yet everything I do helps to shape this tiny world I dive into. I love how Animal Crossing creates this feeling of belonging. You don't have to play the hero. The only thing the game asks you to do is to be yourself and to spend your time doing something nice and enjoyable in a comfy environment.

Why do I play?
I started playing Animal Crossing as an escape back when I was bedridden for a couple months as a kid, and I've been enjoying the games on mornings and my time off ever since.
I especially like how calm and non-stressful playing feels, and fishing is one of my favorite activities.

Why do I play?
I play animal crossing because it makes me happy, I don’t have a lot of friends in real life because I have severe anxiety.
When I was younger animal crossing was my way to escape from the constant bullying and stress of school. Now I play animal crossing because I love the peaceful music and the community surrounding it! Meeting friends with similar interests..

I am a 25 year old college student from Germany and my name is Alina. Hi! I'm currently writing my master's thesis and I will be graduating soon.

Why do I play?
I told my father I wanted Harvest Moon (the Gamecube version) for my birthday when I was like 10. I told him that the game cover shows a human and some animals. He brought me Animal Crossing and I fell in love ever since! So I've played every Animal Crossing game since the Gamecube version and bought every following version on release day. The game means a lot of childhood nostalgia for me and I just feel safe and sound while playing it. :)

I'm Khaelis and I don't think I can put the real reason why I play Animal Crossing in a public thread. So I'll just use generic response of "I like Animal Crossing."
