I'm seeing people in threads on just about a daily basis whose name has gone brown due to being banned.

What's the main cause of these people getting banned, or at least temporarily suspended? Is it to do with scamming or what? (o_O)

By the way, I am not asking about individual cases but rather on the whole.

Probably post quality, so spamming, and making dumb joke threads, etc

I got banned a last week for my replies being too short xD

I've been wondering about this too. If people get banned so easily for small posts, it makes me a little paranoid so I try to make all my posts on here really wordy but still to the point xD plus big posts = more tbt

But I've noticed it's always the same people which makes me question even further if it's favoritism playing a role, or if it's the same people not learning from their mistakes

Going off topic, and being a bit salty:

One of my infractions was for something I've seen said so many times before, but my post was the only one to get removed?? Like how is that fair? Another occasion, was when I mentioned something and got banned for it. The reason I'm still pissed about this is because I actually talked about it before, but got not even a warning. Additionally, I've seen other people talk about even worse things, but still have their posts remain. Honestly, like you said, it's favouritism, or the mods are just really inconsistent when handing out warnings etc

Closing this before it turns into a floodgate of complaints. Please forgive.

We (the staff) don't ever disclose specifics about individual bans, but it's almost always the same situation: a person repeatedly breaks one or more of the forum rules and continues to do so despite receiving multiple warnings and infractions. Of course everything is a case by case basis and there are times when the offense is severe enough to warrant a ban without issuing an official warning, but this is relatively rare overall.

Also, a brown name can also mean a disabled account or an account that hasn't yet been confirmed via email, and we also use the color for our forum NPCs. I know there are at least a handful of people who lurk the forums despite having never confirmed their account, so you may be seeing them on occasion and mistaking them for banned users.
