Do you know how many in-game bells you can get for 10 TBT bells ? Millions...

I don't understand. TBT bells are generated by commenting posts, or posting on the forum. A few "amazing " here and there, and BAM! 10TBT.

Do you know how long I have to grind in-game for 1 million bells? Days ! I don't understand it, and it feels broken. Is it just me that does not get it?

How do you even convert TBT to in-game bells? Is that a thing you can do?

This person gives away 1,000,000 bells for just 1 TBT or 12,000,000 for 9 TBT

I don't know how or why since as OP said, it can take days to earn 1m bells.

Exactly. I mean. How? I've never had 1 million bells in my game, ever. That's besides the point. But why is it worth so much? It's not like you can do much outside trading with TBT bells ?

A lot of people have multiple devices and towns. They all can timetravel and track their turnip prices. Once they get a good price in one town to sell, it's easy to swap to a sunday on your second town and endlessly sell turnips at a good price.
That would be my guess for how they stockpile gold.

Of course there are other means that would require manipulating the game which is against the rules of most forums for trading...but of course it would be difficult to prove xyz item was duplicated via such a method.

Makes sense. Thanks

tbh i do get kinda confused when 1tbt can get u either:
1million bells
1 diy
or 1 nook ticket

i don't really understand it, so sometimes i tend to trade more tbt than the item i'm buying is worth just so it seems more fair to me :)

I'm relatively new (only been on here since NH came out) so this might not be the right answer, but I've noticed many generous and selfless people on the site offering low prices for items/bells/villagers/etc (especially compared to places like Nookazon). I kind of got the sense it's just part of being a good community and helping others out without expecting much in return.

I have 30 mill in ACNH and that's after fully upgrading 3 player houses, and building/tearing down about 50 inclines/bridges already, and moving each building multiple times. Some people are filthy rich in the game and IGB have lost a lot of its value. TBT is actually very hard to accumulate in large enough quantities to afford the expensive collectibles unless you have a shop selling art or in game items, etc. Meanwhile, if you play the stalk market, you can make a matter of 20 million igb in minutes. So while the numbers seem skewed, it actually makes sense if you think about it this way.

like etown said sometimes the tbt rate seems so low for such high value items because people are just generally willing to help out on here, since it's more of a community than some of the more intense sites such as nookazon. people often like to save up tbt because they want to buy collectibles and saving on that large scale is difficult if you're also buying expensive things, whereas igb is a lot easier to reaccumulate and not spend in large quantities.

But you'd have to cheat, and time travel to do so? I don't time travel, so in-game bells are much more work to accumulate than dropping comments here and there on this forum.

Time traveling has been a part of animal crossing long before nh and villagers even used to acknowledge that you're a time traveler, me and many other people don't consider it cheating, just playing the game differently :)

Also, you could buy turnips on Sunday in your town and sell them in someone else's town for lots. Lots of people host for free so you can get lots of bells quickly without time traveling too!

Actually, TBT is more versatile than other forms of in-game currency. You can use it to buy bells, NMTs, or items, both orderable and unorderable. I think TBT is valuable to a certain few because it can be used cross-games as well as to buy collectibles on this site. I can use TBT to trade in NH, NL or even other Nintendo games. It's also very quick to use compared to other forms of currency. I think as most people have a lot of bells now, the value of bells has depreciated. You said you never had 1 million bells. Have you tried selling turnips? I made my millions in a matter of hours by finding a high turnip price in my friend's island. My game was on Sunday so I would go back and forth selling full inventories of turnips. I made enough money for me and my friend to not have to worry about bells again. You don't have to time travel. You just have to find someone with high turnip prices on a Sunday in your time zone. (They don't have to time travel either, just have to be in a different time zone where it's not Sunday.)

The main two reason people want tbt (that I know of) is to either buy collectibles, or commission the amazing artist in the Museum forums.

This most times requires up to 100 tbt or more (especially the really popular collectibles like the wand set which goes for 10k+). It's an absolute pain to save up for in my opinion, as I most times can't find anything to say in discussion threads. That's why I set up a shop to sell in game items for a low tbt price, it helps others expand their catalog as quick as possible, and for dirt cheap, and helps me get closer to buying more of my favorite collectibles (and, at a later time, commission artists).

It's just depends on your play style. and If you're willing to trade your TBT for bells, you don't have to worry about doing so much of the work as others already have.
