Why can I get multiple pictures of the same villager?

So, I’ve been playing animal crossing for a couple years now, and I’m really good freinds with fauna and tangy. But I already have there pictures, they just keep giving me more and more. I have three pics of Fauna at this point. I’m not complaining, but did they forget that I already have them? Is it a glitch? Are we just super good freinds?

Maybe you want one outside their house and on the wall of your house.

On my previous island I decided kidd was a satanic ruler and all other villagers were part of a cult worshipping him. So they all had pics of him outside their house.

Maybe you just want more for trading.

Imo its a good thing. Fully intended.

I'm not sure why they just give you multiple pics without the dialogue acknowledging that they've already given you their pics. This was something that happened in NL, too, so it makes this being more of glaring oversight than an "intention" by the developers. Strangely enough, the only game where it doesn't happen is the one that made villager pics an addition to the series. WW's Villagers gave you only one, and they weren't treated as they were with any other item — that's what made obtaining them in that game special. Villagers would even ping you just to ask if you kept their photos, so I don't know why this bit of pinged dialogue isn't in the later games.

Yeah its really weird! I think its just because the pictures get added to the item pool once your at a high friendship level so they have teh chance to give you multiple in ACNH and ACNL. I dont really know if its like this in WW because I still dont have any besties in that game yet.... villager photos are not in City Folk fyi! I have like.. over 8 - 20 photos of EACH of my ACNL villagers because over the years they have just been giving them to me all the time lol

I've only been playing since the end of February and I've got 3 pictures of Buck, 2 of Al, 1 of Lionel and 1 of Roscoe. However, I would have said I was friendlier with Vic than Lionel but no picture of Vic yet.

It’s definitely intended. There are many uses for pictures. If you actually don’t want more than one, give them away or sell them. I think it’s a cool feature and wouldn’t mind multiple pictures.

You can I ended up with 3 portraits of lucky and multiple of phobe. It takes awhile and you have to constantly talk to and give presents.

I don't think there is a limit on how many photos you can get(in NH at least) because I have gotten nine photos from Jeremiah before(and even though I don't have her anymore I've had Puddles longer then any other villager)
