I don't mean to sound rude but I'm honestly curious...like I never talk or pay any attention to any of my villagers like I think it's been a week since I've actually talked to any of them despite playing everyday....... o.o
I don't mean to offend anyone!
I'm more just curious like could you all tell me why you like collecting the villagers so much because I just really don't pay attention to any of mine xD...
For me, I don't buy/trade villagers. I do giveaway ones that move out, but that's it. I still have a lot of other goals to work on, so I'm not working to find dreamies. If one shows up in my campsite, great. But I don't reset for different ones or try to get them any other way.
It really depends on what your goals are. If you want to fill the museum or set up a pretty or themed town, villagers aren't that important. They're not super important for item collecting either if you don't care about villager pics.
There's so many villagers and they're so important to what makes the game Animal Crossing.
But I see what you mean by not really having to talk to them. You talk to one villager with a certain personality, and you've talked to them all. They're not vital to the game, but they are a huge part of a majority of players towns.
I don't collect villagers and have no dreamies. But I love interacting with my residents and I want to meet every single animal in the game! (I'm keeping a list. It'll probably take me years to do this... if I manage to do it at all. ) For some, the game is mostly about landscaping. For others, it's about the animals. And for more others, it's about the trading and collecting. And so on. I'd have to say, for me, I play the game mostly for the interaction with the animals. Even though I still feel like their personalities have been watered down way too much.
I have to talk to every single villager every single day at least once. I mostly want their pictures, but I also have an attachment to them that I can't really explain. :3 Maybe a therapist could explain it.
Villagers were a big part of the original game for me... (the extent of my landscaping back then was replacing all the trees with fruit-bearing ones) it's all part of the "roleplay" experience, i guess! I remember finding it weird that before I got the game, no one seemed to talk about the villagers when posting screencaps and stuff... But yeah I love to have one as my "best friend" and all that!
Because they are one of the main fundamental parrts of the game??
i am contemplating a second copy where i dont care about villagers and just accept whoever turns up though to make it more natural, like it was when i played GC and ww
I care about my villagers because they are a huge part of my gameplay and two of the dreamies on my list have sentimental value to me.
Honestly, though, what it really boils down to for me is wanting to have villagers that I enjoy living and playing with in-game. I play video games to help deal with stress, so it's really important that to me I love my villagers.
I don`t really have dreamies, but I do want to interact with the villagers I have. And I just had the first one leave and I genuinely feel bad about it. I 'm kinda amazed how attached I become to them. I love the emotions they make me feel. I guess this game for me symbolises the attraction I have to Nintendo. For way to many years....
Villagers have always played a huge part in the Animal Crossing games. I've always taken the time to talk to all my villagers and do favors for them ever since the very first time I played an AC game. I like earning my villagers pictures. It makes me feel a sense of accomplishment. They ask for the PwP requests. They give me items that I never thought I'd ever get. They write me letters. They're really easy to please. If I'm going to live in a town with these villagers why would I want to ignore them? I'd rather get villagers I like than do that because no matter what, you're stuck with having villagers.
I was getting extremely bored of the game until I got into seeking out villagers I like. Now that I've gotten a couple I'm starting to enjoy the game more.

After I posted that I just found Phineas and he gave me the Town Conierge badge. "I'm such a softie... I'll listen to any request when I'm needed!"
Without villagers your town would be lonely! If you're asking why people like villagers in animal crossing, then it's because it's all part of the fantasy! Correct me if I'm wrong, but a vast majority of players develop private bonds with their villagers! Subconsciously, we'd all love to diversify ourselves in this magically flawless community known as "your town name here". People have their favourites based on personality and looks, and that's mainly why we want to alter our town's villagers.
I think it just comes down to how you like playing the game and what you enjoy doing, that's the wonderful thing about AC you can just do whatever you want..guess I'm just more into decorating houses then villagers maybe I'll get into villager collecting in the future, who knows?
But for now I'll try and spend some more time with them and talk to them a bit more often than once a week.. xD
