Remember the AC days when the only way to get bugs was shaking a tree for fruit and selling it to tom nook? I guess everyone does, but I realised the reason some of us AC fans are extremely rich is because we sell our villagers. And some of the villagers are really ugly and they sell for like 50 million.

Just letting those less millionaire people know...

I'm rich and I don't sell my villagers.

That's a lot of people. Definitely not just me.
Ever heard of stalk market? Buy a closet full of turnips and you're set for months!
Beetle hunting gets you (at most) 300,000 or 400,000 bells per trip.

I sell my villagers but am still piss poor lolol

It's a lot of people. Especially those who have been playing Animal Crossing games for a long time. I wasn't into the forums until two or three months after I started New Leaf on the release date. For 2 1/2 months I did not time travel. I accidentally sold my perfect fruit the first day or so. All I did was do favors, sell things I got from villagers, regular apples, waited for things to go on premium, and hunted/fished for beetles and sharks. I made 5+ million bells in the first month.

Edit: not including my Nook debts & expansion, shopping for furniture, Pwps. I got all that done the first month and had millions in my bank left over.

i get that maybe you can only play for 30 mins a day. fine. but idk man its kinda easy to make bells nowadays

I get most of my bells from the stalk market, but I actually prefer bug hunting. I feel more in control when I'm hunting for beetles. XD

I never said it was a bad thing. People think it's weird to sell villagers, that's all.
What I was trying to say was that I got rich without selling villagers, so selling villagers isn't the only way to make a couple of bells.

ya i didnt mean you but ive seen people on tumblr and here act like selling villagers is terrible and is cheating or some crap like that

I think the only villager I sold was Rosie for 10 or 15 million.
It was gone in less than 24 hours...

Selling villagers is just like selling what you consider junk in your storage on Re-Tail. I think what's pretty cheap that some people do is selling re-orderable things that cost 1,000 for 1-3 million dollars. But again, it's an easy way to make money and why not take advantage of it if you can?

I have over 50 mil and I haven't sold villagers or duped any of it. Most of my money was made through the stalk market and through item auctions on here and ACC. I used to beetle farm, but I make a LOT more money through the stalk market, with a lot less time needed and effort than with beetle farming. Even the auctions are less work.

Essentially, if you wanna be rich, ya need to put effect into making money, one way or another... and actually save it in the ABD. Still saving up for the ABD... the elusive 100 million... XD But, I wanna use it for both my character's houses, PWPs, and other items.

I actually play AC for quite a long time. I'm just saying, majority of my friends and people I know make money off selling villagers. I have once sold a villager, other than that its kind of all about selling my flowers

I made money off turnips and it made life so much less stressful looking for beetles (I find beetle-hunting to be tedious).

So now I paid off my home and some rooms for my sister.

I'll probably just bury/hide the money somewhere around town for my sister to dig up.

I just use the island, I listen to Spotify on my headphones at the same time as I do the bug hunting and it's lots of fun.

Selling a villager for millions and time travelling too much isn't a great idea IMO because you'll get everything too quick and the game will lack the longevity we who like to take our time will have. I already see many who say they've achieved everything (through dubious methods) stating that the game's getting boring now. I've had the game since June but still have loads to do and look forward to. :)
