Smash Bros. is the only fighting game where you actually do something. Most other fighting games are won by doing this.
Button Mashing. It's often a last resort to fighting games, but lets be honest that's how typical games such as Street Fighter for instance. What's the point in learning all these combos if you simply win by being able to mash your way to victory. In smash it's different, there aren't any real restrictions to a stage in order for someone to corner you and do some kind of kick combo whatever (or hadoukens); you actually need to plan out your strategy. For instance, you need to find which moves best fit your playstyle, learn advanced strategies, and etc. This is the main reason that makes smash different from typical fighting games, rather than having a stage that is constricted with some sort of invisible wall, smash has no restrictions (except the blast zones and falling down), you can do what you want.
I have no idea why I made this, it is very opinionated.
