Why was Forcing Tarantulas On Random Islands Nerfed for?

I was told about it by the Discord server community. But I still find the explanation why it was nerfed ridiculous, since most players might not have been aware of the trick. Because I tried to force spawn the tarantulas on the bamboo island that I landed on. But after clearing the stuff off of the bamboo island. No tarantulas spawned. And I asked on Discord about it. Then the responses was that trick got nerfed.

I understand that it was to balance the earning bells fair. But I feel force spawning tarantulas on random islands is fair. Since it takes awhile to catch them, tools break, labor by tidying a random island and even limited backpack space. And its very rare to land on the actual tarantula island. Because grinding bells is stressful and time consuming. Plus on your home island its very rare for a tarantula to spawn.

I wish that the developers would undo that nerf since I find it strange on how it would exploit the game play of natural fairness.

I think it’s because tarantulas and scorpions are SUPPOSED to be so rare. You’d never see them even in the amounts we currently see ‘em in previous games. The islands that are supposed to only spawn them in are a rare treat. You probably shouldn’t be able to modify one of the most common islands to be able to get a similar concentration of scorpion/tarantulas. This is coming from someone who did use the bamboo island method back when it was still viable.

Keep in mind that we don't actually know whether they changed it intentionally. Since launch this game has seen several fixes and updates to the spawning patterns, and I don't think they did they made any of those specifically to slow down the amount of bells people are earning. It looks like they just wanted to make sure the right bugs showed up in the right quantities, rather than having islands that spawn only peacock butterflies or scorpions.

For example, someone in a Discord server I'm in had a tarantula problem on their island. This photo below was of their tarantula wall, notice the date in the bottom left corner indicating two days since launch.

What I'm saying is that they might have fixed the crazy imbalance in creature spawns on certain main islands, and accidentally broke an unintended game mechanic where you could farm tarantulas on mile islands when they did. It happens all the time in programming that a small change has multiple consequences, and I think that's what happened here.

i also find it pretty strange that they did that considering we used the island in ACNL to farm rare beetles. that was my main source of income in NL because i didn't play much online or do the stalk market. up until diving, there hasn't been a reliable way to make money quickly in NH.

i farmed tarantulas and scorpions for a while but honestly it was tedious and the time:bells ratio was awful for me so i stopped. idk why they would be worried about us getting too many bells too easily when the stalk market is just. there. i feel like the tarantula method poses a challenge and is more accessible to a younger or more casual player that isn't going to use online play.

this is a great point and not one i had considered!

I have to agree with you as well! I also tried the tarantula method in the past, it was very boring and tedious. It certainly didn't get me nearly as many bells as I can get just by diving, or fishing around for specific shadow sizes :)

On a similar note, I did notice that you could pull up a load of 10k+ fish once June rolled in. As in, I had a pocket full of Dorados for CJ. You’d think they’d patch that quicker than tarantulas if they wanted to...

Honestly I think this "trick" is similar to farming beetles in the summer, and is a great alternative for when beetles are out of season. I don't agree with their decision to nerf it because in NL we always had Kapp'ns island to go to and farm beetles and sharks for money (and now in NH we don't). Plus farming tarantulas took so much time!! Its not like it was an easy way to cheat the system, and was inferior to turnips.

To stop people from "cheating" in the game to make bells? Even though there are other easier methods but okay.
