Will my trees start growing again or are they stuck?

I recently over-planted trees on my island and some of them stopped growing because the limit was reached. I removed a bunch of full-grown trees but the saplings haven't grown at all and it's been a week now. Will my stunted trees ever start growing again or are they stuck like this forever? Any advice?

There might be something that's keeping it from growing. Or they could be stuck in 'not grow' mode. I'd dig them up and replant them in open space. You can always put them back after (just eat something).

You can plant the trees somewhere else. Once those are fully grown, they can be dug up and replanted on the spots that the previous ones do not grow. That should fix the issue.

That was extremely helpful, thank you! I tried to replant my saplings in a tight cluster elsewhere for them to grow and it didn't work, and now I know why!
