Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.
I hope this question hasn't been asked yet! I apologize if it has, I'm just too excited about NH and I literally cannot stop thinking and talking about it lol.
I've been reading the posts in this section of the forum for quite some time now and many of them focus on villagers (which is totally understandable, as they're one of the most important parts of the game). So far we know that we start the game with two random villagers and then go from there, even if the exact number of total villagers per island is unclear. Now, while playing ACNL, many people focused on getting all their dreamies, to the point that trading and selling villagers became a huge part of the online community. My question is, will you personally try to get all your favorite villagers in the new game as well, or will you just go with the flow? And considering that we'll likely bond more with the two original villagers this time around, do you think the general attitude towards dreamies will change? Feel free to specify which ones will you definitely try to get if you want to, or justify why not!
Not really. I don't care so much to search for any specific dream villagers anymore. I used to do this back
then when I still played New Leaf, but stopped it at some point when I realized that it became kinda boring
to have the same villagers all the time around you. I prefer it more now to let the villagers moving in and
out, to get a chance to meet some new faces. With that I get some variety in my town, which is quite nice.
In New Leaf, I had themes figured out to base my towns around and got as many of my dream villagers (I like a lot of villagers) as possible that fit those themes. Unfortunately, between the themes and the 10 villager limit in New Leaf, there were some villagers who I either never had the chance to acquire or had to get rid of and replace with other dreamies who fit the themes of the towns better.
My intention with New Horizons is to acquire as many of those villagers as possible. I'm not going for any of the villagers from my New Leaf towns, just the ones I missed out on or had to sacrifice. Oh, and maybe some new ones introduced in New Horizons, if there are any who strike my fancy.
I don't know whether the general attitude toward dreamies will change, but I can say for myself that it very likely won't change for me.
As for who I'm intending to go for this time around, here are the ones I have to choose from:
Annalisa
Blanche
Bud (He'd be perfect on an island. Just look at the sunglasses! Almost guaranteed spot.)
Camofrog
Cheri
Diva
Drift (Another almost guaranteed spot, love his coloration. Had to sacrifice him to make room for someone else in New Leaf, so plan to reclaim him.)
Freya (Although, I might kick Marina out of my main New Leaf town and put Freya in her place, thus meaning I'd adopt Marina in New Horizons. Seems like Marina would fit the island gimmick better. We'll see.)
Gruff
Leopold
Lucha
Melba
Monique
Pashmina
Pecan
Piper
Rasher
Savannah
Tucker
Victoria
I'll end up cutting the list down once the game is released and/or datamined and we know more about how many villagers we're permitted to have in New Horizons. When we're at that point, it'll be easier to narrow down, and maybe I'll even come up with another theme to base the island/town around other than just "island."
I'll try to, but I'm not sure yet.
I don't know if my island (?) is going to have a theme so maybe I'll get some dreamies and some that match the theme of my island (?) or maybe if I don't have a theme I'll just get all my dreamies.
Not really sure at this point. I might go with my favorites, but at the same time it feels so much nicer to just let villagers move in and out. It gives the game a little more variety and makes it so much more interesting. I mean, having the same villager for a long time could get pretty boring, but at the same time, it feels great to have that one particular villager that you like on the island with you. So really, I don't know yet. Still deciding and I've got plenty of time to think about it before I make a decision.
Maybe? I'm really not sure. Probably, eventually, but I didn't really start getting concerned about my villagers and detailed landscaping until a year or two after the game came out. I like having new people move in, and I've always been more concerned with keeping the villagers that I have and like instead of moving new ones in.
I would really love it if they brought back some other villagers (My favorite normal squirrel Monpe) so I guess I'll just have to decide what I want when I know the options.
Sort of?
I have a theme in mind for my island but there's really no specific villagers that wouldn't fit my island's theme. But even then, I'm hoping to get my hands on a second copy to create a town to my liking. Maybe then I will get certain villagers that I like- but I am starting to experiment with different villagers in my town. So who knows.
I won't actively pursue them, but once my dreamies have arrived at my island I'll keep them forever. Until then I'm just gonna take things as they come and let the game play out more naturally. I definitely want Savannah and Gaston on my island eventually. They're the two villagers that I just can't do without. I have them in my towns on ACGC (Meowtown) and New Leaf (Skullbay). New Horizons would just feel wrong for me without the two of them.
I want to get Alfonso and Kitty on my island at some point. They are my two absolute favorite villagers so they should definitely be there. Maybe I'll try to get Dora there as well because I have fond memories of her. Other than them, I don't have any plans for the rest of my villagers. I think the game is a lot more fun when I let villagers move in randomly, and then get attached to them.
I don't think I really have dream villagers. There are definitely ones whose aesthetic appeal to me more than others, but I like the variety. My NL town has had the same villagers forever now and I kind of miss them moving and the excitement of seeing which new person moved in.
Yes and No. I'll try to get some of them, then try to hold on to them while seeking out other dreamies. So in the end, Yes, I guess? But it's always a bit random, isn't it ?
i just wanna play the game and see who moves on my island!! the only person i want in my town is mint and possibly fauna but i really just wanna see if i can make the best of whoever there!
Nah I'm so done with the concept of dreamies. Sorry but I think it's kinda dumb, no offense.
I used to be very strict with my dreamies but I now believe that you can grow a bond with almost any villager if you put in the effort. Many of people's favorites are the villagers they initially started off with in their first Animal Crossing game, which kinda proves to me that the only reason they like them so much is because they just happened to meet them first.
Since NH is going to let us be a lot more choosey in where villagers set up... probably not! The only real reason I?ve had the set villagers I do for my main towns is because my towns do have some actual themes & layouts to them, and the move-in process is just so disruptive and destructive... so, I?ve had to narrow it so I have favorites in & can build around them xD
Choosing where houses go though, I?m looking really forward to being surprised & getting to meet a bunch of new villagers! The only one I can think of that I?d actively seek out is Zucker- he was the very first move in of my very first town, his design is adorable and I?ve just always had a special fondness for him xD
I'll probably just accept anyone who moves in at first, but eventually I'd want to cycle some out to get one or two of my favourites in there. Even in ACNL a lot of my villagers were random starters I grew to love.
Probably not. After getting all of my dream villagers in New Leaf, I'm kind of stuck in a limbo of not doing anything productive, and I don't want that to happen in NH. I kind of want to experience what different villagers are like instead of sticking to the ones I've chosen for myself.
This is a very good point! I think one of the main reasons people were dead set on having certain villagers in NL is that the whole moving process could quite literally ruin the town, so it was easier to just get certain villagers and never change them. But now that we get to choose where they build their houses, I feel like people will let villagers come and go more freely and get to know different ones.
