So there is this type of wine bottle opener that I want (it's required by the restaurant I work at to provide my own). The problem is that I don't know the name of it. I'm hoping that some of you are wine drinkers and might know and tell me! So let me describe it:

You put the top of the wine bottle into this circular hole in the bottle opener. You then press on both sides of the circle which presses two plastic blades (or straight edges) onto both sides of the bottle. You spin it and it tears the paper label and you can lift it off.

This is the one I want to use because I already know how to use it. I am terrible with the opener with the little knife and I've already tried using it 3 times and it was an embarrassment each time. So pleaseeee help me identify it! Hopefully my description is helpful lol. I haven't used or seen it in over 2 years so my vision of it is a bit blurry.

Thanks in advance!!

you mean a corkscrew?

Well every bottle opener has a corkscrew I think lol. But there are different types. One of them has a little knife for cutting the foil label, which I don't like. The one I'm looking for is as described and is much easier to use.

^Do you mean this?

It's called a wing style corkscrew.

It's not that one either, unfortunately. :( Here's a super simplified drawing of the foil label removing part of the bottle opener: http://imgur.com/hRx6cSv (I apologise for the terrible drawing lol)

So you would put the bottle top through that hole, hold down the sides to push the plastic "blades" against both sides of the bottle, twist it while holding it down, and voila! The foil has been ripped off in a straight line. It also includes a corkscrew and the doohickey that helps push against the top of the bottle when removing the cork.

Ugh, I'm so sorry I can't describe it better or draw properly lol!

Bar blade?

No :( I think that one is more for beer bottles than for wine. Maybe the one I was using was just a rare or one of a kind thing :/ I can't find any picture of it online either lol. I might just have to suck it up and use the knife one..

Ohhhh...that one's my favorite ^^ I think it's so satisfying when the cork pops out

Lol, yeah it seems to be the most popular one. However, I can't seem to get the knife part right. When I'm using it in front of a customer it's really embarrassing and I can't get the label off properly and I don't end up with a straight line.

I never even use the knife when I use it. I just take the curly part, put it in the hole on the top, and pull to break it off that way lol. But that's definitely not the right way

LOL I wish I could do that :p I am perfectly fine doing the cork removal part. Just not the label removal aspect. I'm hopeless, ughhh.

I guess it just takes practice! Now that I know there's a right way to do it I kind of want to try it out myself lol

Lol, try it out and let me know how your first try went :p Remember, if you're doing it the right way, you're not allowed to spin the bottle and the label has to be facing out! You must also do it without having the bottle resting on a surface/table ;)

What angle do you hold the bottle at?? Give me tips lol!

LOL I'm not the one you should ask for tips from :p I'm okay with the cork part, but not the knife part. But the bottle should be straight, as far as I know!

Glad you found it! I was looking for a long while thinking it was something like a torque wrench, but couldn't find a single thing!

I hope you can find it in a store. Or if not that you can learn the blade one.

I appreciate you helping! You're so very sweet ^_^ My drawing was probably just too confusing LOL. And I hope so too! The only way for me to learn the knife one is to keep using it while serving customers and that's just too embarrassing... I don't drink wine so I can't practice at home lol.
