I have a bit of a story to tell about my work life. I have worked at Walmart for two years as a maintenance associate and a cashier. I have more experience as a cashier. Some drama went down at Walmart with my dad, who also worked there. He had his car vandalized on Walmart property and had another associate cut him with a box cutter. They were both suspended, and my dad filed a lawsuit against Walmart. You are probably wondering what this has to do with me, right? Well, my dad and I have the same last name. We both tried to get transfers to another store, and it didn’t work. That was when I started applying for new jobs. I put Walmart as a previous job under work experience. I applied for over one hundred jobs it seems.

I got just three callbacks. That was when I started growing suspicious. I have been told by many that my work ethic is far above that of a twenty year old. I had my friend call Walmart as a potential employer, and guess what happens? Walmart says I am dishonest, lazy, and a terrible worker. What the actual hell, Walmart? Just because my dad has a lawsuit against your company, does not mean you have to spread rumors about my work ethic. Walmart isn’t a good company to work for in the first place, but this is just terrible.

I have since gotten a job when I stopped putting Walmart under my work history. This has made me want to boycott this company altogether. This is ridiculous, even for Walmart.

Sorry for my little rant. I just wanted to share this screwed up story, and see anyone could relate.

Does anyone have similar work horror stories? :(

Funny you should ask, because I worked at Target for over a year and ended up leaving of my own accord to go to university a couple years ago. I never returned because some of the people there are downright rude, not befitting a great person like me.

Now I work at a restaurant as a summer job, and I love it because it’s a low-stress position, and everyone is really nice. I don’t think I’ll ever work in retail ever again as a job.

Though, what I’m really working towards is becoming a sports broadcaster for the Texas Rangers, and an author.

Yeah... Retail is bad. I had worked in it for two years, putting up with assistant manager and the store owner terrible work ethics. But the day I quit was when I had had enough. That day, I worked early morning shift as a stocker, well the night manager has a bad rep for not getting her associates to finish their jobs. So that day when I came in, she had left a mess for the day shift, lied to management saying that everything would be done when they came in. But who gets in trouble for not finishing a job that wasn't mine to begin with? Yeah me, I almost got coached as well for it, but I just decided to not show up anymore. To this day, that manager still tries to pull the same s*** by pulling associates from other shifts to do her associates jobs when those day associates have their own jobs to do. I don't see why they didn't fire her. She LIED to the hire ups! I bet she only got a warning >.< So I get screwed over like that, deciding to not deal with the bs, and she doesn't get punished for it.

That’s the thing too. If people can lie in situations like that, they will. And...

Lying is a sin. This world is built on objective truths and reality. People should refrain from letting their personal opinions stop them from doing a job properly. As I heard in a commercial recently, if you’re going to do it, make sure you do it right the first time.
