I would probably change the Jock villagers to where they can still talk about being all workout, but they can still talk about how they were once being made fun of for being weak and how they had to work themselves hard just to make them stronger. Jock villagers in this game act like they have to work themselves hard every day and have to always keep pushing themselves, where I think that is just too much. They need to have character development to make them feel relatable.

Next I would change the Lazy villagers. Instead of only talking about food or bugs, they should talk about how they tried to be like everyone else, but they kept falling behind so they became lazy and just do nothing but eat food and use their bug friends to talk with since they are very insecure about how they feel around others. They dislike how everyone talks about them not doing much, when they tried to do it, but everytime they do they suddenly feel ashamed and prefer to be alone with their bug friends.

Lastly, the Peppy villagers. They always want to become popstars, but they soon realize that not all what they are seeing as a popstar turns out to be true. They can dream about being famous, but then soon realize how stressful it is to have a lot of fans following them and how they don't have much time to themselves. They tend to be jealous of other peppy villagers who are more famous than they are, but deep down they are insecure about themselves and try to become someone they are not.

Thats how I would change them in my personal opinion.

Unfortunately, Shino IS going to be peppy and it makes me sad.

I don't vibe with any of the existing sisterly villagers, and I've always wanted Tasha to be sisterly but she's snooty (I don't have her anymore).
I would probably change Ruby's personality to a sisterly, I don't know

I was actually pondering which villagers might make good Uchis, and Ruby came to mind.

I’d also maybe consider Audie, Tangy, or Bonbon.

I definitely would. I would make a lot of existing villagers Smug or Uchi because there's so little of them, and there's a lot of villagers that don't fit their given personality at all.

Yeah of course
If I could have villagers I actually liked while having all the personality types, I'd do it in a heartbeat
I voted no initially, but this is the most accurate thing I've read in this thread. So...yeah, I guess I would actually change them. I'd just want to make sure it was a good "fit" for any given villager.

I wouldn't. I feel like when I look at most villagers, I can look at their personality and go "yeah, that fits them". It also makes things more interesting when it comes to selecting villagers to make sure all personalities are on your island, since being able to change personalities obviously means that would become trivial, which would make things more boring and likely result in more similar lineups for people.

I personally would love to change some of the normals to other personalities, purely because I love so many normals, I would probably have a town of ten normals if I didn't care about having variety in the dialogue. ^o^;>

That said, it would depend on how the game would handle it. If you had to do something like buy a legal document that you served to your villagers that told them to act like a different personality or else, no, that would seem creepy to me. Same for a magical something or other that would just force them to change overnight. I wouldn't like that at all.

But if, when you were about to meet a villager for the first time in the campsite or on an island or however else, if, before you talked to them, someone, maybe even just an unseen narrator, said to you, "Hey, you're about to meet [villager's name here], here's a picture of them, what kind of personality do you think they have?" And then you answer, and it turns out that they've had that personality all their lives, then, yeah, you kind of manipulated reality, but not in a way that actually changed that villager's "experience" of their life and personality. So that would be cool with me, probably.

I'm sure personality changing is something that they would never add to the game, but if they did, I'd hope they'd handle it in a non-creepy way like that.

Definitely not.

I gave a lot of unpopular villagers flak for being the way they are, especially the Cranky and Snooty ones, but I'd never change them. Sure, they're just digital programs, but it just feels more satisfying to have villagers have their own unique individuality rather than be what I want, even the over-abundant Peppy ones.

And besides, I'm someone who strongly believes in individualism, so no way am I going to change how someone else acts, even if it's just a fictional character.

I think I would because some personality pools are so limited...or there are too many of one species within a personality. I don't think I could do it to a villager that I'm super familiar with, it would feel weird and kind of wrong, but if I didn't know a villager very well it would be easier.

Freya is a good example. I love the wolves, but so many if them are Snooty. If I'm going to have a Snooty wolf, 90% of the time it's going to be Whitney (or possibly Vivian), so I've never actually had Freya before. I am going to try her this time around since I'm planning to do Fairycore, but I really wish she was Sisterly.

I also find that I like way too many Normal villagers and it's always hard to choose. I wouldn't mind making some of them different personalities. And some of the Peppy villagers would make good Sisterly ones. Cheri and Tangy come to mind, although I'm super used to Tangy being Peppy so that one would be a tad harder.

I personally wouldn't. Even if they could be distributed a lot better I feel like it would just be jarring to know that you changed something like personality. Although we'd probably eventually all get used to it. That being said if they add more personality types in the future I fully expect some retcons again like they did with smug and sisterly; which does make sense from a balance perspective.

Tasha and Ruby would make amazing Sisterly villagers!

It would be nice if some of the lazies or crankies were other personalities, I have so many of them I love but I don't want too many of them on my island :'(

i personally wouldn’t. there are definitely personalities that i’m not in love with (jock and smug), but i wouldn’t give any of the villagers who have one of those personalities a different one. i have no desire to change anything about any villager, whether that be their house interior/exterior, their personality, their design (not even al’s LOL), their catchphrase, etc. i accept all villagers for who they are, even if there’s a thing or two about them that i don’t particularly like. :’)
