Main street but with a lot more going on.
I think it was a lot more convienent, and you could add to it, so it's still in the town but could be similar to the city.

I really hated the city so I'd prefer something like how it is in New Leaf, or even better. Take it back to the Gamecube days and have all the shops located within the town itself

I prefer Main Street. It's convenient and quick to access without the repetitive dialogue. Also it has more shops and is bigger, which I like. It also feels more connected to your town which is nice. The city was a nice concept as well for it's time, but I feel like it was bit lacking in shops and attractions, and just felt a bit small.

Main street. It would feel weird to have city because I never played city folk.

I liked having all the basic shops/services in the town itself. It made the city/having a separate shopping location feel more...grand?
That said, I'll only take the city if I don't have to sit through long loading screens.

I've gotten used to main street nowadays, but sometimes I do miss the city back in City Folk. I'm fine with either one if they do decide to bring back one of them. :)

Personally, I prefer Main Street. Although, if they bring it back, I hope they freshen it up a bit. Maybe you can personalize where you put shops? For example, after the obvious starting buildings like the Post Office and Able Sisters, let's say you unlock Katrina's fortune teller shop. Have open slots on Main Street to where you can put her store, so each town has a different and personalized combination. Maybe you can even choose a design for the exterior of each store from some presets, but I might be getting ahead of myself here.

I’ve never played City Folk, but I do love Main St. As others have said, I love that it ferls connected to your town while still being its own distinct area.

I personally love how the made a Main Street into the animal crossing series. Because every building is like a remake of what it should look like in City Folk. Plus, there was no Garden Shop in City Folk, so that was quite new, and of course giving Kicks a building to sell shoes to villagers.

My Comparison:

ACNL: Redd is in a tent now selling paintings/sculptures, Katrina is in a tent at first, but can be back in a building, Luna is a new character, that does dream towns, and is in its own building, KK Slider is in a building now, Tom Nook is in a Interior Home Place, Post Office is in it's own building now, Timmy and Tommy has it's building, Harriet is collab with the Able Sisters, Leif was new to the series, so they give him a building, but later collab with Timmy and Tommy, and later collab with Gracie, Kicks has his own building now, and the Museum is just remade but still the same as the City Folk.

ACCF: Redd is a building selling random furniture, Katrina is in a building, Luna did not exist, KK Slider was in the Museum at certain times of the week, Tom Nook own a building that was in our town selling furniture, Post Office was in the Town Hall, Timmy and Tommy existed when you unlocked the last extension of Tom Nook's store, Leif did not exist, Able Sisters was in a small shop in your town, Harriet was in the City in a building, Kicks was in the City standing outside on top of mini stairs, and the Museum was in your town.

why not both :)

If we're talking a whole new city (far improved from that of CF's) then definitely that. Otherwise, Main Street.

As much as I hated City Folk, I did love going to the city. It was much more exciting and fun than Main Street.

The Main Street is more practical, since you have all the important shops in one line. Then again, the City
wasn't such a bad idea at all. If they would bring it back, then only with a big improvement compared to
City Folk.
