Wouldn't you guys like to play as a different species?

I mean, it would be soo cool if that was possible. What do you guys think about the idea?

You could change the fur color, type of animal, etc? Instead of being human. OOO, and have human villagers aswell.

I don't think I would like it. I wouldn't mind if other players were animals if they wanted to be though. Personally I'd be iffy on human villagers too.

I'm sort of conflicted about it. On one hand it seems kind of interesting to play as and customize an alligator. Though on the other hand, something just feels weird about it.

I don't think I would want human villagers at all. I think humans should be reserved for player characters only.

I'd definitely love to have the option to play as an animal! It sounds fun and different, but better to be kept as an option.
I'm not as sure about the human villagers, I'd find that kinda weird.

I would hate it. I would prefer to keep things as is, but it wouldn?t bother me if it were an option for others.

Also having human villagers (that aren?t your own) would ruin the game for me.

Because the point of it being called Animal Crossing is mute because if the animals are now humans and humans are animals, It would be more aptly named Human crossing then (which sounds kinda shady in a weird way)

Now being allowed to chose whether or not you get to be an animal or human while living in an animal world would be fine with me

I don't think I would like to play as an animal. It sounds too weird and I just don't see how you could customize such a thing. I like being human, as it's easier to customize. I never really liked games where you play as something different than a human.

Personally, no. I prefer being human. Now, if we had the chance to control an animal character alongside are human character, that's something I wouldn't be opposed to.

I wouldn't enjoy it, as a kid sure I would have loved it.

I don't want human villagers either, but I would like to see the other players on the game wander around the town a bit. Maybe nothing more than just like dream suite where they have a greeting, and all they do is wander and show up in ceremonies.

Absolutely not. There's so many variables to adding new player models but I think this is a horrible idea even without considering the time investment on the developer end.

There should never be other human characters other than the player characters, it's animal forest, not every tom, dick and joe forest.

To be totally frank I've seen this idea brought up time and time again by the type of people who draw nsfw art of the animal crossing characters, and I'd rather chop off that type of persons hands then giving them what the want.

On a similar note - no matter how innocent it is, the player character should never, ever, EVER be able to form 'boyfriend/girlfriend' relationships with the villagers. This is another idea I see this type of person bring up, and its just wrong for animal crossing.

I'm not assuming bad intent on your end op, rather I've seen enough perverts request this that I'm just defensive by default.

Don’t take it as an offense, but the only people who would like this are furries.

I’d like to have humans as villagers, but in the form of how it’s done by dream towns. Your other player characters wander around town and says their TPC quote and nothing else. They even stay in their house if they wanted to.

i love this idea! ive never heard anyone suggest this before!
theyd have to make a loooot of customization options in order for me to support it though!
would be really, really fun if they actually pulled it off well

Nope. The whole point of the game is a human living amongst animals. If you were an animal it would take the wonder out of it and it wouldn?t make sense tbh

Whether or not you think it is a good idea, I think we can safely assume this will never be implemented in Animal Crossing. Just from the responses here, I doubt Nintendo would ever put in something so polarizing among the game's own playerbase. I could be wrong, but I simply do not see them doing this at all.

wow, I hate this

To be honest, I'm curious of how it would be if you're a animal villager. While I doubt that
Nintendo would ever release a full opposite version of Animal Crossing (= player lives as a
animal in a town full of humans), I could imagine however that this could maybe work as
a sort of mini-game in the game. Like, in form of a dream from your character. Luna could
offer the player in the Dream Suite the option to visit your own town via a dream, but it's
a opposite version of your town. Like, you can design your own animal villager which you
can play in the dream version of your town, where your animal villagers are humans.
Basically, to show the player how the opposite of the game would looks like. After you end
the dream, Luna then ask you if it was a amazing dream or more like a nightmare for you.

Not sure how high the chances are that Nintendo maybe would do something like this, but
I think it would be cool if there would be a option to see how it would be. Otherwise, I guess
it's better when they stick with the way the game is.
