Have you ever been grounded for something that didn't make sense to you or you just find the reason to be stupid? Well this is the topic for you (results may vary). I am currently grounded for a week (no tv, no phone) for not waking up on time to go somewhere.

one time i was grounded for not having a good time at a place i didnt want to go to in the first place (which i explicitly stated beforehand). i didnt even do anything particularly bad, just bugged them about going home. i tried to bring my 3ds and play there so i would have something to do, but dad told me to put it away. got me grounded for 8 months from my computer, my phone, and any other electronic device. i snuck on my phone while dad was at work bc mom didnt care and he occasionally allowed me to play on my computer. i also used my phone at school. im sure this grounding was a buildup of a bunch of stuff id done that had annoyed my dad, but imo it was a little excessive. (also 8 months was never explicitly stated. it just happened to end around there.)

I've never been grounded, that's not really a thing where I live. I've been scolded for bad grades or spending too much time on the internet though. If I went to bed too late or didn't wake up in time it would have been my problem to deal with, from my parents' perspective.

Uhh is grounding more of an American thing?
Like I stay at home nearly of my time, so if my mum did "ground" me I'd be super happy lmao
I wouldn't be forced to go outside anymore xD

When I was 7, I was allowed to go to the playground down the street without my mom for the first time. I was going with my friend, another girl who lived on the street. My mom gave me a watch and two rules.

1. Stay with my friend, as it is dangerous to be alone.
2. Come home on time.

When it came time to go home, my friend refused. I knew that I would be in trouble for not getting home on time, but I knew that I would also get in trouble for leaving my friend and traveling home alone. I chose to stay with my friend and try to convince her to leave, as I was afraid of riding my bike home alone. Keep in mind, this was in the days where cell phones weren't common yet. My family had only one and my dad had brought it to work, so I had no way of calling my mom to explain what happened.

By the time I got my friend to leave with me, we were an hour and a half late. My mom had freaked out and was in the process of calling the police when I walked in. She spanked my butt all the way down the hall and into my room. I was grounded for a very, very long time. Which really wasn't fair. I was in a lose-lose situation because of my friend's actions. But at least I learned not to trust that other kids will automatically do what is right or what they're told. I learned to do what I felt was best for me and the people I care for.

i've never been grounded. i mean, i've had privileges of mine taken away, but i've never been confined to my room.

and honestly, i haven't had anything of mine taken from me in years, but i think one that really sucked was when my mom took my ipad away from me because i asked her if i could stay up later.

Then how are you posting this thread?! :O

Yup, "back in my day" having access to tv and phone (landline) removed also barred me from access to computers or even my laptop I used for homework (they weren't required for course work in the 90s and early 00's), and absolutely any video game console or handheld.

I didn't really get this punishment for anything WTF though, any time I did it was well and truly deserved on my part lol.

Also : we didn't get "grounded" in my family. We called it "punishment". Those privileges were removed for a set period of time but there was no restriction on our movement at home aside from that. It was the same for kids at school, I don't remember hearing of anyone actually being confined to their bedroom or anything.

na i havent been grounded tbh

my parents used to try o make me stop usung my computer if my suster and i fought but ehhh it didnt work out because i had the computer in my room and they didnt bother taking it out. and when thry had calmed down they didnt care anymore sssso

i got grounded once because i didn't do my assignment which resulted in bad grades...... we had no working laptops at the time......

I used to always get in trouble for things my mom's boyfriend kids did because he trusted them more, so they'd intentionally do things just to get me and my sister in trouble. It was a great time, especially when we were grounded and they'd run past the room "neener-neener"ing forever.
