So I'm pretty sure this topic has been raised by people before, but I don't see a thread for it, so I'll just ask.

What are your ambitions for the future? What are you hoping to accomplish, and what are you hoping others accomplish that make the world a better overall place?

Like, even if you are only 13, surely you have thought about it? I have an almost-sixteen-year-old guy friend that has finished two years at a university majoring in Computer Science and plays Baseball, so I am proud of him. He also lost his dad last year, so I've been like an older brother to him ever since (he doesn't have any siblings, and I only have an older sister)

But, I digress, what are your plans for the future?

Mine:

"Future HOF sports broadcaster for the Texas Rangers/Future Head Producer and Director of Billiardia! Absolute Fate The Series (Book series by me, Anime by RoosterTeeth, and Manga by some close friends)."

It's great to read that you're mentoring someone. It's one of the best things that people can do.

I should have my bachelor's degree in English (writing and rhetoric) at the end of the year. When I have my teaching certificate, I'll apply for work in Japan (among other places). I'm also considering working as an editor for a video game company and pursuing a master's degree, but I'd prefer to travel more and help people.

I also want to finish up writing the first book in a series I have planned. It's a massive project with its own unique languages and world, which I've been working on for about five years. Once I'm done, I'll send it out to publishers and see where the wind takes me.

I am not really mentoring him. He still has his mom, and we have not talked much. He is pretty busy, as I am as well (for obvious reasons).

Personally, I find rhetoric boring. If the meaning of "rhetoric" is something that is said and not usually responded to, what is the point in it? If anything, I would say I enjoy "aggressive rhetoric" the most. Especially against people who disagree with me.

English is a good major, although I find it creates some people who correct others. I should know. I was one last semester, but it didn't end up working out.

I love History though, because it's objective, but about more than just "Math" or "Science". It's about real people doing real things in real past-time. And in the present, I am going to love researching and disagreeing with a lot of people.

That is good to be writing your own series. I wish you the best of luck.

I'm currently going for a Ph.D. in Astrophysics and probably a Masters in music/piano performance. My ultimate goal is to work for NASA and play piano in my free time.

I've even told people I'll play music in outer space too. What a long stretch that is though!!

Be independent from my parents. How and what (job etc.) I don't really care... like can they just stop bugging me?

To easily sum it up, rhetoric is the art of persuasion. It's a part of everything that we do; including all of the games that we play and even deciding what we want to eat at a given time. People that earn an English degree to correct everyone's speech haven't taken sociolinguistics courses, or probably failed them. And thanks, I will do my best to see my work on bookshelves someday.

I would like to eventually start writing books. I've been worldbuilding for years now, mostly for fun, but I think it would be a huge waste to not do anything with it. I have a lot of stories I want to tell, and I really don't want the world I made to die with me.

Not sure if it will happen but I would like to make some contribution to science. Even if it's just a little, I want to help expand human knowledge.

I honestly don't have many ambitions for the future. I'm perfectly content with living a quiet life. The only major goals I have to achieve are getting my B.A. in English literature & moving in with my boyfriend and both of those will be relatively soon. I'm not sure I even want to go to graduate school, so likely I will be working in a library or cafe while he pursues a masters/PhD. As long as I can live and be happy with little to no debt, I am content.

I still ended up passing all my English major classes and getting a "D" in the class that I didn't do well in in Junior Poet, and ended up getting an award for it too. My poet was Shakespeare, one of the most difficult ones with regards to History.

I also do not deal with abstract things. I find people that talk in riddles and in abstract equations really just do not want people to show them up in ACTUAL English, that is, English that someone you are talking to can easily understand. The people that talk mostly abstractly just feel like The Riddler from Batman to me.

This is also why I'm not just a History major, but have a Journalism concentration going as well. I am hoping to intern with FSSW AND RoosterTeeth if possible, and I want my presence to be felt in both North and South Texas. People will know my name, someday.

I'm not in it "for glory" though or for "teamwork". Not even myself or my family. Just the sheer accomplishment of it. Who knows. If I'm successful in both of those things, I will end up inheriting some land too, so I could be making bank in the future.

I know greed corrupts people though, but it will not corrupt me. I will give first and foremost that money to charities in Texas, Puerto Rico, and Ecuador, some will go to my family, and then the rest will go to myself. I find that I could be any major here I wanted to if I needed to. Math, Science, History, Arts, Ministry, Philosophy, Theology, English, Physics, pretty much anything.

But for the record, I love History.

I'm a little old to be chasing my dreams like a peregrine falcon to its prey, but I dream of working for Nintendo, and being a playtester as a sidejob. I don't know what my main job at Nintendo will be, though.

I hope eventually I'll become a board-certified art therapist and assist people of all ages (mainly youth demographics) through their trauma with an artistic outlet. I'm aiming for a PsyD, so this is gonna be a long while

I'm not sure of what I want to be, honestly. I mean, I have thought of being a dancer. I don't know. Hopefully I'll get it all sorted out soon.

As for the near future, though, I'd like to get my driver's license. My mom really wants me to learn how to drive, so I think I'll be working on that this summer.

1. Figure out what I want to do with my transition and go for it.
2. Work harder to pull myself out of the cycle of poverty.
3. Become more mindful and content.

Those all sound like noble goals. I myself am probably going to end up transferring to another university for the Fall, but if not, I really need to pull myself out of whatever kind of offensive funk I'm in. Cannot do much right now with my parents constantly asking questions.

Thankfully, once I turn 21 tomorrow, I will officially be considered the "man" of the family. Dad already retired and other than that I just have a mom and sister.

Bumping this, and it also looks like I may be transferring to another university.... I have five options. One of those is staying here, but otherwise they are all generally close and affordable private Texas universities...

graduate, get a job, work for a few years and save up money, move out into an apartment, keep working till I die
