Hi all,
So I?ve been playing New Leaf a lot lately and I love the music, especially the rainy day music!
However, I kind of tune it out by now because I?m so used it.
The GameCube Animal Crossing was a huge part of my childhood. I don?t really it play it, but I do love the music from it and I have playlists online of the music that I listen to pretty often. Sometimes I even put my New Leaf game on silent and listen to the original GC music, instead.
If there was an option to change the music from newer games to the same tunes of the older versions, would you do it? Any thoughts? I?m sure there?s a way to hack the game to do that, but I?m not really into that, plus not skilled enough either :p
I do think about it sometimes though because it?s really comforting for me to listen to the older version music sometimes.
What are your thoughts?

i'd probably change the music to older versions because i've never heard all 24 hours in any other game besides new leaf, so it'd be a nice change when the new music gets old

As much as I love the music from the Gamecube game, I'd only ever change the music in a game if the new music was bad. They spend so much time on the music that'd it'd feel wrong to change it. Although I certainly wouldn't mind having a "Retro Day" or "Retro Week" where, for a brief period of time, the music is replaced with the older music. You could even have the Villagers say something like "This music really takes me back."

I really like that idea of the ?retro day!? I think it would be just enough for it to be nostalgic, but not too much so that we get used to it and forget the new music. Like I said, I love the new music! It?s really good. I just get nostalgic sometimes and wish I could get it in the game instead of having to mute New Leaf and playing it on YouTube or or websites :)

You can, in fact, change the music! This requires a hacked 3DS though :/
But if you happen to have one then you can do it! I've played with a "mod" which changes all the New Leaf musics to Wild World music! From the Daily tunes to the steet and shops musics! It was very cool and made me feel nostalgic of course.
I guess this also exists for the Game Cub music but I'm not sure!

While the music in New Leaf is overall nice and all, I always preferred the soundtracks from the older Animal Crossing games, especially the one from Wild World/City Folk. New Leaf and it's soundtrack becomes kinda stale after a while, it's missing something like the "Cat song" (the 1 PM soundtrack) from the CG title. You know, something that sticks in your mind, like a earwig. What would be nice is if you could in the Switch game go to the Town Hall and have there the option to choose from a list which soundtrack from which Animal Crossing game you would like to hear in the background. Like maybe you pay 20k bells and can change then the soundtrack, like in the same way of how you can change your town ordinance in New Leaf. Depending which soundtrack you choose, the title screen's music when you start the game also changes (like for example: Instead of the actual Switch title melody, it's the Wild World one). That would be really neat and if such an option would be available, I guess I would either pick the GC or WW/CF music.

I think of the soundtracks as almost polar opposites. The GameCube version is typically more upbeat, while New Leaf is more soothing. There is definitely tracks that go against this, but that is how it generally sounds to me/the vibe feels. It can be really hard to pick between the two!

The older soundtracks are my favorites! Gamecube is the best though. :)

Yeah I thought maybe someone had already thought of this and done it!
I?m definitely not skilled enough to hack though or anything like that... and I definitely don?t want to mess anything up and lose what I?ve got in my town.. but it would be so cool as an option!

Yeah I definitely feel the GameCube music had a certain vibe to it I really liked, which is why I listen to it so much. I do like the newer tunes, I just miss the old ones a lot and think it would make it cool to walk through my town :)

I definitely want a completely new OST in each new Animal Crossing game. CF just having WW's OST was really lazy. However, I most certainly don't think it would hurt to have some kind of option to play past games' music, though. Kind of like how they did in Pokemon HG/SS.

AC:GCN's OST will probably always be the best AC OST to me, but I know my nostalgia is a great part of that.

Options are always nice, and I could see myself using a different soundtrack every year.

Not Wild World/City Folk though, music doesn't get much more bland than that.

honestly, the biggest perk to Cube Crossing music ever being brought back would (hopefully) be to get better audio quality remasters of it

how does it feel to be so WRONG?

Oh Gamecube music gives me the feels. I love those songs. I would like to see totally new music in the Switch game but an option to switch between all the tracks of the older games. Wild World was good to. New Leaf had the most boring music in my opinion. Only the night songs sound nice but I never play after midnight so maybe it's just because I didn't hear them for 800+ hours.

i'd like it if we could have "radio stations" on stereos and music playing furniture. you could listen to classic soundtracks, change game options individually per hour or choose frequency meters like in smash brothers, switch between KK songs in their various versions (live, radio edit, DJ remix) etc.... maybe we could even compose songs like an expanded version of the town tune.

oh no. i just made myself really want something that will probably never happen.

EDIT: accidentally double posted the same thing. sorry about that!

^The radio station idea sounds actually quite nice, I would like to see something like this.

New Leaf's music is overall fine, but if I had to choose, I would go with the older soundtracks. So
if there would be a option to change the music, I would choose older soundtracks, probably those
from the GC and maybe also some from WW/CF.

Makes me wonder how the soundtrack of New Horizons will be. The music in the background from
the Direct trailer sounds not bad so far.
