A few questions about the "V o i d"

Does that mean your plot is safe for at least one day? Was thinking of going on mystery islands tomorrow since one of mine is in boxes today; thing is, I visited someone who had someone moving out (not in boxes yet), so I'm slightly paranoid I got tainted.

In my experience you usually have the day to search the islands or do any trades as long as theres no TTing. I also will add I have had voided villagers move in as the 10th so the whole "they have to be invited" thing only works if you have never had anyone visit your islands and vice versa.

So this is where it gets a bit weird; but basically, whoever you next interact with online might get both Dobie and Agnes in their "villager pool", but also some people have reported they've passed on the same voided villager to two different players.
I just wanna add that a friend of mine passed his voided Lily onto a friend of ours back when the whole "this plot is reserved for 's new home" glitch was going on, and she got a glitched Lily from that... and guess what? I got Lily too and only could've gotten her from his void, and she gave me the "I've moved out" glitch! :( He didn't mean to at all and couldn't have had any real control over it, but he gave glitches to 2 different friends via the same villager. And not even the same glitch both times! The void is so broken right now.

Honestly the void shouldn't even be a thing anymore. 😒 It causes way too much trouble and stress. I guess Nintendo thought it was a good idea to make our islands feel "connected" in some way and give villagers a "free will"

But if you ask me, dumping villagers into an abyss just seems kinda cruel. Poor little guys, floating in an endless sea of darkness and despair 😥

I guess without the void, the villagers just die/are killed after they leave your island and are not adopted...

Idk which is more humane, the void or no void

The "void" has kinda been a thing since the very beginning. In the original Gamecube game, when you would pop in another person's memory card and visit their town, one of your villagers would move to their town the next day. The concept of your friend's villagers moving to your town and telling you about life in your friend's town was always a feature. It was one of the most consistent ways to get new villagers in the original game, because the move-out mechanics were kinda wonky. I imagine that was the inspiration for the void when they started moving to online.

That being said, it sounds like the void is causing more problems than anything right now and I agree that they should get rid of it now that being able to invite villagers from other towns/islands is a thing. At least until they're 1000% positive they can fix all the bugs with it.
