Most retail places have it up for pre-order at $79 here in Australia. Cheapest option is $69...if you shop on Amazon, might be able to get it cheaper but I'll be buying my copy in-store.
This is the key thing here. It's a very small blessing that games have stayed at this price for so long. Thankfully I was able to get the game for $35, but I would have still bought it full price.
I think it's perfectly reasonable. I will probably be playing this game at least for the next three to four years, so it's really cheap for the amount of fun I'm getting. We will be buying another Switch (hopefully the AC bundle) for my boyfriend so that we can play together - and we didn't even think twice about it, because I know it will be so, so worth it.
Where/how do you get it on Amazon for 45€? Is there something I'm missing or is it just not available for 45€ in Germany? For me it shows 60€ or do you have to do extra steps first? I'm more than fine with paying 60€ for all the time I'll get out of it and initially I even thought it might cost 70€ like BOTW, but I wouldn't say no to getting it a bit cheaper.
The switch is the most expensive console I’ve spent money on for games. There are some games I’ve bought for the $60 standard price that I haven’t really played much of after the initial playthrough. For games like that I would say it’s not worth it, although I ended up selling them anyways so I got my money’s/plays worth. Games like splatoon2 I’ve played almost every day since I got it so definitely worth the money. New Horizons will be in the same boat. I’m not too worried about paying $60 for a game I know I’ll play every day consistently. I probably will no longer be able to play like I did for new leaf, where I can just buy a cheaper preloved version and make another town (because of the 1-island per switch thing and the hefty price tag) so that does bum me out a little. But I’d say I’m ok with it. I love the franchise too much and i’ve waited too long that the price tag isn’t really going to stop me.
Yeah, games are $60 because they can be. I highly doubt the game being $40 would make it a financial loss. Nintendo had no problem dropping the price for Pok?mon Sword/Shield either, and they were probably expecting less sales than usual.
Like, games are not something you need, but that doesn't mean the price should just rise without reason. I really don't think Animal Crossing for Switch is that expensive to develop (like compared to an last gen AAA title). They had no problem developing new models and items for a free app. Pocket Camp is a steady income for them, I just don't see how making the game more expensive is something they need to do. It's just inconveniencing fans who are already supporting you through the app and merchandise. To me, 40 bucks and 60 bucks makes a big difference and I think that's more common amongst Animal Crossing fans compared to other games.
Most of the games I tend toward are either not super popular or are indie games, so I tend to get buy fairly inexpensively. That being said, when something more expensive comes around (AC, LoZ, etc.), I don't mind paying a bit more. I know I'll get my money's worth out of it, since I only buy it if I really know I'll enjoy it.
I usually get my games way after they have come out and buy them used. This time around I have decided to buy it on the release date, so yes, I?m seeing it a bit overpriced. I also don?t have a switch yet, and compared to the ds games, I think it?s a little bit higher in price as well. I?m willing to buy though, I think I?ll get my money?s worth playing it.
This is standard. $60 for a new triple-A game is normal and nothing new or surprising. The Switch also is still cheaper than any of its competitors were at launch price. Don't be surprised that things that people put years of development into cost money-- if you can't afford it, its not the developer's problem and if you're complaining about how much it costs, you shouldn't be buying a new video game console and game anyway.
