This is a general topic on air travel and the joys that come with it.

I am flying to England next week and looking for ideas on how you all pass the time when you travel. Last time I took this flight I ate the in flight meal, watched movies, and listened to music. Once the sun started to come up I watched the sunrise and looked out the window. Watching the landing was the best part.

Another question I have for you all is which seats do you like best? I like window seats behind the wing because of the view. Do you like to pick your seats before the flight or do you leave it up to the airline? When my stepdad and I went to Spain he tried to discourage me from picking a seat because "The airline can still move you"

Do you have any stories of rude passengers, funny flight attendants, etc?

I’ve actually never rode a plane. I’ve travelled, but it’s all been ground travel. I would be terrified of the window seats. I am greatly afraid of heights. I think I would like riding somewhere in the back or maybe towards the middle. I definitely wouldn’t like a window seat, although I would probably sit in a window seat just to try it out.

I usually just browse the internet on my phone to pass the time. I love traveling, although it has never been air travel.

I’ve been on lots of flights growing up, but I don’t like being on airplanes because taking off and turbulence makes me really nervous.

Also, if we’re talking about experiences, I just remember when my mom and I were coming home from Florida, and the flight took half a day past schedule to be ready for departure. Well, it was night time when we were in the air so I was already kind of out of it anyway, but there was a baby that kept screaming/crying and the parents wouldn’t make them be quiet, so that was nice. The service also sucked. This was Spirit airlines we were riding, and I’m glad to say we haven’t flown with them since. : ‘ )

I love air travel so much!!! It's so relaxing, watching movies, eating food, other things! That's what every person loves! XD

I'll usually download a half dozen books to my Kindle before I go on any flight. It's the perfect opportunity for some uninterrupted reading time.

I always book a window seat because people constantly walking up and down the aisle tends to get on my nerves.

I hate air travel. The whole process is really uncomfortable. It's even worse when you have to do long flights. I can tolerate 6 hours on a plane, but once it goes after that mark, I feel like I'm going insane. I can't stand being in the enclosed metal tube with too many people close together, not enough personal space, and having to mostly stay in a too uncomfortable seat. And, yes, I've done very long, 14-ish hour flights several times. -_- I especially hate children on planes. I've had way too many kids behind me kicking the back of my seat or babies screaming for hours at the top of their lungs.

I would suggest to bring a handheld game console or a book or a laptop/phone loaded up with movies.

i hate air travel... watched too many movies and snakes on a plane scarred me lmao
its just so.. horrible since theres sooo much bad news on air travel ): i know chances r low but stiiiillllll.

I dont really mind it that much. But i get really fidgety after 3 hours and im planning on going to america one day which can be like 10 hours so it would be a pretty uncomfortable flight. I havent been on a plane for about 3 years though and next time ill probably download a bunch of movies to watch so i wont be bored. What i dislike the most is landing since my ears are sensitive to that. Id hate to deal with kids crying and stuff too

I haven't flown in over three years, but on the last couple of flights I've been on, my 3DS has always been my source of entertainment.:p

I havent actually been on a plane since I was 2 (or so my parents say). I would be afraid to fly because of the drastic change in air pressure, since my ears are really sensitive. Though it would be cool to see clouds from above :p

When I'm in a car and I need to pass time, I just listen to music or play my 3/DS. Sometimes I bring a book to read too :)

I've only flown once and it was only a few hours. Wasnt a fan, I probably won't really do it again haha. If I'm traveling within the U.S. I'll just drive, regardless of how long it'll take. I think I watched a movie and then just kind of zoned out for the rest of the flight. I prefer to pick my seat so I can sit by someone I know, so I'll pick the window and whoever I'm with can be in the middle haha.

I went to New York the first week of June is the experience was... interesting xD I basically just played on my Switch the whole time. I was trying to get some of the Hero Weapons, so there was quite a bit to do, and I stayed pretty busy. Since there was a layover in Chicago, I charge the switch in that time c: We ended up missing the connecting flight though and had to wait 7 hours for the next one T^T which stunk because our flight came in late, and our connecting flight left early >:[ Anyway, I prefer a window seat as well, and I prefer to pick the seats in advance because it stinks when you get on and there are only middle seats sporadically throughout the plane, so you can't sit with your family :/ As for rude passengers, on this flight, this lady saved 4 seats >:[ 4 seats!!! My mom and I had found 2 seats next to eachother and we were hoping could sit together... Nope. There was this lady standing in the aisle seat telling everyone who walked by, that "those seats were for her husband and children, and that the aisle seat on the opposite side was for herself" (she had a bag in the seat on the other side btw) This was really frustrating because you're not supposed to save seats, but on top of that, her family were some of the LAST PEOPLE TO BOARD -.- Like it wasn't like they were close by and she was saving it for them real quick, like she was literally keeping so many people from being able to sit where they want. And I understand wanting to keep your family together, but by doing that, you're also keeping other families from being able to sit together as well... so >.> Anyway, that was my rant xD

I recently flew from Wellington to Nelson (in nz) to visit my brother. We flew on a tiny propeller plane in 100km/hr winds (if you know Wellington that's perfectly normal weather) and it was one of the most enjoyable flights I've had (no sarcasm intended), it was like being on a cloud roller coaster. There was one little kid who as we reached above the storm cloud and smoothed off, yelled out "that was soooooo awesome!!!"

The downside being our return flight was cancelled due to 170km/hr winds so we had to fly across the whole country to Auckland where we caught a jet engine plane back down to wellington. We stayed in a 5 star hotel for free overnight and flew back at about 4 in the morning, thankfully the weather had cleared up by then so it was an easy flight home, although we did see an impending storm front approaching the airport and we could see the most of rain pouring out from below it. There was also a large cargo container heading right into it and it looked so cool ^-^

I love flying!

been on a plane a few times, longest in one go was I think 6 hours? I'm gonna be flying next week across the country so that'll be fun. Planning on bringing my switch, 3ds, and a textbook to read ahead before school starts

I have never heard anything good about Spirit Airlines. Why do people bother with them, I wonder.

I'm planning to do a lot of landscaping in my town during the flight. I'm stocking up on all the bushes I can buy until the big day. My flight is at night, so I'll mostly have a nice peaceful town with no villagers pinging me.

I like to have window seats just behind the wing for the view as well.

For entertainment, I personally watch movies on the in-flight entertainment system. If I don't want to watch any of the movies on there or I've run out, I listen to music or play on a gaming console since flights are great for getting some solid gaming time done

speaking as a us citizen, **** air travel 10000%. the flying aspect isn't too bad, but everything else about it (invasive abusive "security", horrible management of just about anything, disrespectful handling of luggage, etc) can **** right off

literally the only good aspect of it is if you can get a window seat.

also, I normally just read something while listening to music (plus checking out the view if I get a window seat)

I've been on many flights recently, it's so uncomfortable-- my ears would constantly hurt from the change in air pressure, especially during landing ;v;;

Aside from that, I normally play on my 3DS/Switch and listen to music to pass time www

I travel alot! I live in London, England and have been to Florida 9 times, L.A, Las Vegas, Canada, Egypt, Morocco, Tenerife 2 times, Spain, France, Japan, Thailand 3 times, Australia, Dubai, Jamaica and Dominican Republic. The longest flight I have ever been on was to Australia which was 24 hours with no stops in between!! On this flight I really struggled to occupy myself once I finished watching the movies that were available! The night before I flew I downloaded alot of series and movies on netflix which you will be able to watch not connected to the internet, I found it very helpful. Apart from that I slept and slept some more hahah XD

My favourite seats on the plane are the ones right at the front next to the door to exit the plane! These seats are great because there is alot of leg room which allows for me to lay down properly if I am flying in regular class seats. Apart from that the only reason business class and first class seats are slightly better is because you are able to fully lay down. The food there I dont like, I prefer getting the small cans of drink, peanuts and the plastic cutlery something about it makes me enjoy the flight more ( I know that sounds weird XD)

The funniest flight I was on was to Spain and whilst I was on the flight there was a group of football hooligans that probably took up around 7-8 rows of seats. They ended up getting quite drunk and someone was playing music off of their phone and some of them got up and started dancing, they even tried getting the air stewardesses involved. IT WAS HILARIOUS!! xd

i hate airports, airport security, being on airplanes and flying. i dislike travelling in general but going by airplane really sucks. i haven't been on a plane since 2014 which i'm glad for. that flight was super long and i suffered the entire time.
