Amibo cards yay or nay ?

During NLi have collected all series (1-4), all RV and specialty cards .
the only card im missing the the very expensive Isabelle card you could have gotten with a japanese magazine years ago… i do have the KK version though..

now that series 5 is coming out, i have the urge to buy these again to complete the collection, otherwise i feel its incomplete

ive traded a lot here on the forums. Which was fun to do! But most of the trading went trough facebook groups (especially german groups)

I prefer villager hunting, but I do own the Sanrio cards. In case I can't find a villager and run out of tickets and somebody terrible moves in (Marcie...), it's nice to have them. Plus I invited Étoile.

A couple days ago I mentioned that I bought more Amiibo cards they I needed, but now that they can be used with the Happy Home Paradise update (and The Roost), it makes me feel better about having them.

I have some from series 1 through 4, the japenese RV cards and the 6 Sanrio RV cards but I have since stopped collecting. I was getting a lot of dupes so yeah.

Might jump on the series 5 cards if those packs only include the new 48 cards, otherwise I probably won't.

i want the cards but specially the NPCs cards, the villagers i can get them slowly, hahahah, i feel so sad its so hard to get it. Thats why i said i wished i could just pay them online and download the cards in my game when ever i want, aaaah

If the cards were more accessible they'd be worth it. Nintendo really should just let us order directly from them and limit the orders to combat scalpers. Even digital amiibo cards we can download would be great as well. It's a missed opportunity on their end given they'd not only cut out the middle man but make a good deal of their players happy.

this is ehat i have been saying all along, man i would buy online envelops even and be it a mystery whats inside you know what i mean ? Or just obligue you to buy from small, medium to large bundles to buy cards and avoid duplicates. This was one of my unrealistic wants for this direct

So quick update, in Fnac in Europe online they also sell cards by unit at least some and they are the officials. What i am going to do is buy a couple of my fav NCP, and some packs or selected villagers to start the colections and from there every now and then ill buy a few more.

So i decided i must have before the update comes, so i can make their cozy homes and visit them; Isabelle i got the one with the green dress cause the one with the kimono i can wait till i am lucky and get it by chance, Tommy, Redd,Gulliver, Leif, Tortimier, jingle, jack, Katrina,Pave,Brewster and Celeste and K.K and now i might take a few random packages of a series or just a few villagers that i find cute

question, can we change the clothes of the NCPonce we summon them?

Update: i am finally part of the amiibo card holder family ✌🏼. My first cards are the sanario, cant wait for the NPC ones that i purchased to arrive and then before getting more from the previous series i CANT wait to buy series 5 cards .... ach my poor wallet :( hha

Oh I go for nay. Sure it's nice to have all cards it makes the collector heart happy but honestly it' so cheap.to make the cards yourself and you can make any amiibo you want just for a few cents

I remember back in the day I bought a couple of the camper ones. By then, New Leaf was old news but New Horizons was still far away. I had Ketchup and a couple others - I tossed them a few years later. I still regret that because those cards got so valuable by then lol.
It's too much of an investment for me to get into now. I personally don't think the Amiibo's is something that I'm missing or will be using a lot. With hundreds of cards to collect I try not to do it because let's face it - it's just another useless item in the house. I don't like the consumerism that comes with it and the idea of constantly having to buy more cards, so I just skip them. I don't think they're worth the hassle.

I mean, they're definitely cute-looking. And had I began collecting them from the start I would've probably kept going, but I'm not going to start now. Maybe in a couple years, when NH is old news and the packs will be cheap again :p. they don't seem to sell out so fast in my country.

Depends really. For me it's a pass as I know I'd never use them in game. I'm happy with all my villagers currently and I really enjoyed the RNG of finding them/finding nice people to get them from. Even for HHP villagers will randomly pop up for you to make vacation homes for so the cards are more for if you have specific ones you want to design for.

I also personally find the cards a bit pricey (as I'm a Pokemon card collector) but they do have an NFC chip in them so I suppose that's why. Collectibles are usually a bit pricey anyways. If you really want to collect them and think you'll use them in game then I'd say go for it, otherwise it's probably a safe pass.

I will say I did collect all the amiibo figures (sans winter and smash Isabelle) though as I have a nice little display cabinet for them.

If you actually wanted to collect all of them, it's a bit over 500 in total I believe if you include series 1-5, the Welcome Amiibo set (which hasn't gotten reprinted yet), and the Sanrio pack. Those costs add up really fast, even if you're able to buy them at retail price and aren't buying overpriced ones from scalpers.

I think the most frustrating thing of all is that these cards were not really that hard to get when they started releasing them when Happy Home Designer for 3DS came out. In fact, I have the feeling they undersold compared to Nintendo's expectations at the time. It felt like sales got better once they put out the New Leaf Welcome Amiibo update.... but then they stopped printing them. And Nintendo STILL took a long time after NH's release to try to reprint them, and it feels like they're always not printing enough. I really don't understand Nintendo's business decisions. If I were Nintendo, I'd print more, because it feels like they're leaving money on the table.

I also only own the Sanrio ones, since there would be no other way to obtain these villagers without them. I feel like if I’d gotten into buying the cards early on in their release then I’d be more inclined to collect them all, but as it is that’d be a lot of money to spend 😵 I’m considering buying a pack of the new ones but I feel like I wouldn’t use some original ones enough to justify buying them

Maybe just buy singles at the time you are wanting them? Eventually you'll have a little collection.
Otherwise I suppose make a list of the most liked and set a number limit to not go past before starting the list.
And you could browse around online for cheapest options if that is what you want to do.
