E.g. Nostalgia, a sense of accomplishment, something more complex/personal.

I no longer have the game, but yes. When you put that much time and effort into creating something epic, like an entire town, you can't help but feel something.

You form friendships, even though it's a game, you greet these villagers every day as they've become part of your extended family.

It's like a second life that you sink in to.
An escape from real life problems and frustrations.

You can fish, catch bugs, dig up fossils etc. It's really amazing when you think of all the detail in this superb series!

I have loved Animal Crossing since Wild World in 2005. It has frustrated me. Made me hurl my (old) ds into the wall more than once, but it has bought me more joy than words can convey.

Yeah. Animal Crossing makes me emotional. :)

This is kinda pretty. Well put!

I have definitely become attached to some villagers, that is for sure. They feel like friends in a different sense.

My partner and I met solely because of Animal Crossing (and these forums) so it has extreme emotional significance to me

I have a deep emotional connection to Animal Crossing. It is my favorite game series of all time and I doubt anything else will come close to it. Part of it is that I have played it for so long it feels like it's always been a part of my life in some way. It's also been a great way to meet people online, something that I think has really helped me.

I don't feel like I get overly emotional about the game. It's a great way for me to relax and detox after a difficult day, so it kind of has the opposite effect. However, I do get very attached to my villagers and view them almost like real creatures, so in that respect I do have an emotional attachment.

I would say somewhat. I do get/got emotional here and there at certain situations or about some of my favorite villagers, but not that emotional.

I choose somewhat. There's that one time when i had a birthday and three of my villagers celebrated them with me. I cried a bit. Oh, also when one of my villagers left my town and i also cried inside and i missed him so much

Hmmm, come to think of it i should've chosen Yes XD

I felt nostalgic when I booted up Wild World after so many years of letting it collect dust. Just hearing the music was enough to bring back good memories. I wonder if I'll ever get that from New Leaf. I wasn't a huge fan of its ost and watered down dialogue, but maybe with time, I'll develop the same longing feeling
(or not).
