Finally being able to choose where your villagers live, place furniture outside, improvements to make landscaping easier, and even having your home on the beach has greatly increased the possibilities for creativity in animal crossing! So many people Have created themed towns in the past with much less creative freedom that stunned the community (i.e. Aika village) and it amazes me to imagine all of the now possibilities!

Have you come up with any rough landscaping ideas or plans for a general theme in your town? If so what are they?

Personally I am debating between resuming my previous theme of a dark enchanted forest or just creating a natural town. Some ideas I have had for what to do with outdoor furniture is creating a farmer's market and outdoor spa/hot springs.

I'm gonna pimp out my island to strangers on the internet for some silly messaging board reward.

I don’t think I’m going to plan it out much until I see what my town looks like first, where shops are going to be located, etc. There’s still so much we don’t know for sure about the game that it makes planning a bit hard.

I do know I’ll be going all out during holidays. Our towns are going to look amazing during events like Halloween and Christmas now that we can place furniture anywhere outside.

Just letting it get overground as the cart sits in the oldest of my 3ds consoles, unused for about 4 months . Doubt I'll touch it now til a nostalgic look back in 20years time

I didn't even think of how much fun it will be to decorate entire towns for the holidays, I can't wait it will be awesome!

Waiting for the release to see if it's worth buying a switch just for that game.

either a natural or fairytale vibe, im designing and playing with a friend as she doesnt have a switch and im not sure what her plans are yet. tropical is also a good option

I'm an Alien moo-cow mermaid! I have an alien town so I'm planning to make a dreamy fantasy plutonian island! My sea is made of liquid stardust and my clouds are basically nebulae! I have 3 moons (blue, green and purple) and one blue sun.
If anyone's ever watched MoonDreamers (it came out in the 80's, watched it as a kid)

I kinda wish the pathways could be like this:

I want the ocean to look like this:

Whimzee was my fave and I liked Dream Gazer too!

I would love to have makeup like Dream Gazer (right) ˁ̡̡̡∗︎⁎⃙ ̫⁎⃙ˀ̡̡̡ ̩˳♡⃝︎

My ACPC looks like this - I couldn't afford the beach and sky and foreground but this was what I wanted, the furniture is all real though!

This was what I actually had:

I love how unique this idea is! You could make a beautiful island and I'm sure the choice for custom paths will still be there c: if you made them look semi transparent to show the grass below them I think you could find a way to pull that path off, just may take a lot of trial and error with design !

Thankies so much!!! I'm really hoping the devs got creative with NH so we can get lost in our creativity!
I could just get lost in a world of fantasy and daydreams ⁄(⁄ ⁄ˊૢ⁄ ⌑︎ ⁄ˋૢ⁄ ⁄)⁄ ✴︎☆*♡

When it was first announced as an island, I immediately started thinking that I wanted my island to feel like a small-town (or island) that feels extremely welcoming, comfortable, and homey. I am hoping that I can somehow portray that throughout decorating the island.

My plans stop at the name and type of town/island I want.

I'm planning on being Lys from Delta, and like all of my other towns, it's going to be natural, and full, I mean FULL of flowers and beautiful things. I'm looking forward to the outdoor item placements, and creating yards for my villagers. I want to know more about the Amiibo functionality and how many villagers I will be able to have on my island, and if I'll be able to scan in my favorite babies.

I usually prefer natural towns, so I'll likely go in that direction with my island. As for a specific theme, I think I'll wait until I see just what the layout is and where shops and other related buildings are available/situated. I still haven't decided if I want to live right on the beach or go back inland a bit and create a little grove around my house.

I’ve kinda given up the plan I had for a town in New Leaf, and decided I’ll work on implementing it in NH xD A very dreamy, eternal ‘end of summer’ type town, kind of a double pull of nostalgia as seen through vaporwave-ish aesthetics xD Being able to choose villager placements means I won’t have to immediately lock in all locations, the decoration/house themes I want should be a bit easier (although I may have to change the one guy, if the 7/11 set doesn’t come back xD), and I think the Stardust vibe just fits better with the tropical island theme.

Oh I love that idea so much!!! I have actually never seen a town based on vapor wave aesthetics and now I can't wait to see your finished or even partly completed product!!! There are a few items from pocket camp such as laser lights or fireworks that would fit this perfectly if you had a sort of eternal end of summer festival set up somewhere in the town.

Also the 7/11 or something similar should come back I hope! The sets based on stores are always awesome.

I just wanna make my town nice and cutesy like I've always dreamed lol even though I haven't managed to get very far on the other games I think there's a good chance I can get just what I want this time!

Since it's on an island I think it might be fun to have a retro beach movie theme! The mayor could be named Gidget, beach blankets and surfboards on the beach with a radio playing some sort of pop K.K music. The player houses could have mid century modern furniture etc...

Or I could just wing it and not set on a theme for the first part of the game!
