Anybody else hope they make Kappn less creepy (if he shows up)?

Idk if he's always been that way or it's just in new leaf, but does anyone else hope that they make Kappn alot less creepy in new horizons if he shows up at all? He always makes me so uncomfortable to the point where he's literally the only character I speed through dialog with.

Like Nintendo I love you, but why did you make him so dang creepy?

As far as i'm concerned, I think he was always that way. I don't think he's the most attractive but I don't really care for him as a character.

P sure he was always that way. He reminds me of those rlly gross older ppl who think bc they're old they can get away with saying overly gross things to people :/ maybe his daughter or wife or someone will take over.
But he is based on a kappa so... idk... probably intentional.

I-i think he's pretty cute! I don't like the other punk characters bc at this point they feel a bit outdated, but Flick feels like a breath of fresh air?

I can see where you're coming from about Kapp'n. Was never a huge fan of him assuming you and your friend are dating or engaged when visiting the island. x_x

Calling it flirting is a bit weird? I just see him as a jolly uncle from down the street helping you out and wanting to chat with you, as most adults would do? like that weird small talk stuff. I also see it as a little positive note to boost self esteem. I always skip his dialogue since i've seen most of it already/too eager to go play on the island, but I'd always smile when he calls my character cute LOL.

Then again, I always take compliments regardless of who gives them or why. I’ll take your self-esteem boost and go about my day feeling fabulous. I also don’t get creeped out easily. *shrug*
I’ve never been a big stranger danger person. I can take care of myself. A cartoon kappa isn’t going to ruin my day.

I doubt they would change it, given that he's a kappa. If you read the wiki article on them, you'd be very surprised.

I think no one ever really liked him lol, I speed trough dialogue with him too because some of his comments are uncomfortable. Like??? Man you have a wife and children stop hitting on me??? I hope he doesn't appear in NH, I don't think he will anyways

I guess you could see it this way, I'm far from the only person who interpreted him as flirting so I wouldn't say it's a total reach.
I just wouldn't assume some random "uncle" has charitable intent when asking if you're single and saying your hair is pretty, but of course that's from real-life experience and maybe not applicable to AC xD

edit: looking at the wiki, I think his personality was toned down in NL, he was definitely thirsty in earlier games:

If the player is female, he will subtly flirt with them, calling them 'cute', 'pretty' and that a 'manly bus-driver is available'. If the player does not respond, he will begin to whistle his sea shanty.

I would love for kapp'n to be less creepy. I didn't even realize he was for a long time because my first game was NL and I chose a male base (for the eyes I wanted) with the knowledge I could obtain female hair styles down the line. Then I saw my friend playing and I read the stuff he said and I was baffled. When I asked her if he's always like that she said "pretty much he's a creepy old man" which caused me to look up what else he said.

I know not everyone is bothered by him but random men calling me cute or that my hair smells nice or asking if I'm single raises major red flags irl and doesn't make me comfortable in game either.
