Anybody else hope they make Kappn less creepy (if he shows up)?

I don?t know, the new red npc creature in new horizons looks pretty creepy and scary looking to me. More so than kappn.

I would love for kapp'n to be less creepy. I didn't even realize he was for a long time because my first game was NL and I chose a male base (for the eyes I wanted) with the knowledge I could obtain female hair styles down the line. Then I saw my friend playing and I read the stuff he said and I was baffled. When I asked her if he's always like that she said "pretty much he's a creepy old man" which caused me to look up what else he said.

I know not everyone is bothered by him but random men calling me cute or that my hair smells nice or asking if I'm single raises major red flags irl and doesn't make me comfortable in game either.

Yes you get it so well! Major red flags and gives the big creeps.

As far as i'm concerned, I think he was always that way. I don't think he's the most attractive but I don't really care for him as a character.

I guess you could see it this way, I'm far from the only person who interpreted him as flirting so I wouldn't say it's a total reach.
I just wouldn't assume some random "uncle" has charitable intent when asking if you're single and saying your hair is pretty, but of course that's from real-life experience and maybe not applicable to AC xD

edit: looking at the wiki, I think his personality was toned down in NL, he was definitely thirsty in earlier games:

Well, of course he’d flirt with you in older games, he was single back then, a man with a child would definitely tone down what they used to do. Considering that Leila is roughly 3-4 years old from just how she speaks (friend for example is said fwiend) I think he settled down after CF since that is the last we see of him until new leaf.

I didn’t think that Kapp’n was creepy at all to be honest, I thought that he was cute (even knowing what he is based on) still do. I hope he makes a come back in some way

I never liked him at all, even when playing as a male character.. apart from acting creepy, I also feel like he relies too much on stereotypes when chatting with the player, and he just makes me uncomfortable overall.
So yes, I hope they tone him down in New Horizons!

same. like i feel really bad for thinking that because i can definitely see why people would take it to be creepy. i think of him as an old boomer just takin the piss out of us all and joking. it's like when old people see a young dude and young girl just chillin they make a joke that they're dating or something. or they call a young lady pretty or young lad handsome to make them blush and stuff. idk i guess that can still be construed as creepy, but growing up in a place where that's just a common occurence it didn't particularly bother me. i just thought dang it's that old dude again. and old dudes aren't the only ones that do it, older ladies do too but they're more teasing than joking.

I think so as well. I didn't interact with him too much in the older games so what I saw in NL just looked like teasing to me. I'd have aunts that would shout out "pretty lady is here!" when I enter the room but we all knew it was just jokes.

I love Kapp'n just the way he is, and I don't mind his songs either. As someone mentioned before, Leif is the real creepy one. If my villagers started going missing, Leif would be my no.1 suspect. Bad vibes from that one.
