I've been trying to finish my island, so the last thing I want to do is start over. I am also totally uninspired about a new island theme, especially with winter around the corner. I'll have enough to do with all the new things. I don't feel any need to add to that.

Lucky for me I just got it all flatten and done few months before the update announce. Now I left some empty spot to fill up with the might-appear-new stuff

Im flattening mine, but not all at once so I dont burn myself out doing it. Im really proud of some areas in my map so I dont want to demolish those since I dont think I can do any better than that lmao.

I played every day for over a year; I can’t bring myself to burn it all to the ground.

I relocated some homes to make some room for a farm and to maybe create a carnival type area. Plus I kind of like the challenge of making it work with what I have.

I want to start over (for new island name, different peninsula, and different layout) but most likely won't because I don't want to lose my friend list, my diys, and catalogue.

Flattening is too much work! I could see myself redoing some areas, especially for the new items, but it's good enough for now.

I'm not going to reset/flatten my island, no way! It's very tempting but I spent a good year collecting DIYs and furniture so it would be so sad to throw that away... Now that elements of terraforming will become more streamlined with the update, I'm even more hesitant to toss everything.

I would, but I'm too lazy to do so, I've kind of grown attached to my island, and I finally got my favorite villager, so I don't wanna go through it all again.

I reset, but only in part due to the update.
The update was the push I needed.

My island had things about it I disliked that I could never change.
My airport was the gross yellow. My fruit was cherries which is the second worst.
Lots of rocks on the beach.
Shortest pier.

I've not reset up until now due to how much progress I had made.

I grew bored of how my island looked and thought about changing its layout.
But then I realised, that if I don't reset now before the update, I will never reset and have the dream island.

So I bit the bullet.
And im so glad I did as my new island is perfect.

Keeping your island if youre happy with it is logical.
But if you're not fully happy and want things only a reset can bring, then I think it makes the most sense to have reset before the update comes out.

I have a Sanrio hotel on the top left tier so I can’t do it. I literally can’t go through the pattern placing again. Also I’m a millionaire so no way I’m resetting. Too much good stuff in my inventory and I don’t want to have to go through the beginning all over again.

Honestly. . . I Don't care if my airport is yellow; I'm not changing my island; I've done far too much progression for more than a year & I'm not going to make it ALL FOR NOTHING!

I Got the game for my birthday last year; Established the Island on the same day as my Birthday!

I started my island on launch day and I never want to reset it. I don’t like my resident services location, but my island is still too special for me to consider starting over. I’ve also kept the same layout that I started with and only did very minor terraforming.

I'm most likely going to redo some stuff on my island when the update will drop, but not to the point of complete flattening or resetting, just minor tweaking and/or item replacing.

Yeah that's fair?
Never said you should restart your island.

It's a shame there's no New Game+ in this game, I really don't feel l re-learning all the DIYs or refilling the catalogue anymore 😳 If only they would at least give us the ability to paint the airport and move the resident services

I was going to hold off on flattening mine until after the update, but I couldn't wait to do it. I'm pretty much almost done in terms of terraforming. I still need to re-add inclines, bridges, and outdoor decorations. I think I actually WILL wait until the update to decorate my island. That way I have more of an idea of what items I want to buy from Nook/HHP.

After the direct my immediate thought was "I think I'm going to restart my island" but when I logged back in for the first time in 8 months I was instantly attached to it all over again! I have been remodeling parts of it though. Coming back after a long period has helped me see where improvements can be made. :)

Plus I really don't want to lose my recipes and catalogue. Such a hassle!

Plus plus I really like my yellow airport lol...

My island may not be as neat as others, but I do feel that I’ve developed a lot of it. It just needs some finishing touches and a large botanical garden. Therefore, I don’t think that resetting or flattening will be necessary.

I won’t be flattening/resetting. I have had my island since launch, and I really like it the way it is. The only real change that I have made was to reorganize the farm site that already existed in prep for more crops. Otherwise, I am set!
