I find having to re-invite villagers from amiibos three times then having to craft them something every day to be kind of annoying? In new leaf you could invite them instantly, even kick someone right out for them. Now it takes repeated work and that seems a little bit much considering we pay to get these cards and have to do that much more. "Free" villagers don't take so much work, so I can't really understand this mechanic.

I'm also not a fan of the scanner placement and having to take the cover off the thumb stick (or whatever it's called) every time to scan them. I feel like I'm gonna rip it and/or scratch up the thumb stick thing.

i got really annoyed with the three day thing trying to invite whitney. like one day and you have to craft them something should be enough imo. they made it really tedious to get villagers and not really worth it in my opinion. im just going to try and find villagers voa nook mile tickets now

Exactly, one day and a crafted item is more than enough honestly. I have a couple other amiibos I wanted to invite but I'm second guessing it, especially since waiting 3 days to invite just 1 villager put a hold on me getting my island ranking up faster.

i dont have to take my cover off my thumbstick?? unless you've put one on like those paw-print things then that might be a bit of a you issue (i can still imagine the annoyance tho, the things we do for aesthetic). it sucks that we have to scan them in at least 3 times to invite them to our islands, but i kinda like the waiting game. and i also like how we almost always get a new recipe out of it.

i wonder, though, if when they say they have to kick someone out to come to you island, can you always pick with amiibo or is it random?? i invited stella 3 times in a row and i decided i'd ask her if she wanted to join for the heck of it and then she said, "who do you think wants to move?" and i never clicked on chops' icon so fast.

I personally don't mind it TOO much since I'm doing other things while waiting for the days to go by, but I can see how it gets tedious, especially if you're doing multiple amiibo at a time.

I don't own any amiibo, but the three day 'wait' they place on you before you can invite them seems really bizarre. Not to mention the glitches related to them, which seem to still have issues...

The scanner wouldn't read the card with the cover on there so I had to take it off. It's not one of the cat paw ones (I have those in the mail though, can't wait!) but it has raised bumps on it for grips. The card wouldn't scan through it no matter how I angled it.

I will say on a positive note it's nice to get a diy or two out of it, but for me I only got 1 new one since he mostly asked for things I already had.

I play with a pro controller so it uses the center to scan not the thumbsticks.

I definitely can see how it's tedious but I actually like the new process tbh. I feel like it gives a bit more of a life-like approach. They're not just kind mindless and need "time" to make the decision.
But mainly I like it because it gives me an extra method of gathering extra recipes. But I guess once we collect most recipes, yea, it'll probably be less appealing.

I like having the three day limit on the amiibos. It feels like a nice balance of working for it. It always felt a bit too easy in New Leaf. But, I could see how doing it three times might feel a bit long. Two times might have been better for most people.

I wouldn't mind too awfully much if it wasn't stopping me from getting my island rating up. I'm trying to save my miles so I can afford the pathing/terraforming when I get it so I didn't want to island hop for villagers.

Yea I was super peeved about it, because I had just moved my house where I wanted it, plopped down the land for Lolly's house next to mine and invited her. Then after her not accepting my invite to move in, looked it up and the very next day Spike moved in. Had I been given a warning in-game prior, I would have planned accordingly and plotted her house on day 3. So I ended up spending 100k to move him away from me and her to her spot, because you can't kick out a villager when you have 8 full houses, only when you have a full 10 villager town... Overall I absolutely agree that something people spend real money on shouldn't be such a huge pain to use.

I'd rather have the three day wait on a random villager though, not an amiibo. We already paid real life money for them, so making us wait on top of that seems a bit much to me.

i think it's a good concept - three days gives the opportunity for three new recipes, you have more things to do, and it makes it a bit harder than in new leaf, where you'd just scan it and ask them to move in.

but people are paying real, extra money for these cards so i think it should be a bit easier - it seems weird to make everyone wait three days for a villager that they've paid for. maybe just 1-2 times would be optimal, where they visit and you craft them something and then are able to ask them to move in!

I can see how it would be super annoying for people trying to trade villagers, but for my playstyle, I like it. In New Leaf it felt too easy to just move in whoever you want at any time, sure it was convenient but as someone who has played all of the AC games and is used to having 0 control over villagers, it felt disingenuous to the series (totally just how I feel about the feature, not judging anyone else for using it). At least this way you have to put some work into getting the villager you want. When Tad moved in today after 3 days of building him stuff, I felt accomplished and not like I was just taking the easy way out. Plus it gives you the chance to get to know them and start building a relationship :) he talked about how kind the island was for constantly helping him out and it made me smile

I can see where you are coming from. Truly. But, we have the cards and it isn't that much of a hassle to scan it in multiple times. It feels more like building a relationship with them than just plopping in dolls.

But, coming from New Leaf where it was just a "Wisp, move-in so and so" and "ok, but you have to replace so and so!" it is a big change and I can see why people don't like it.

I feel like it may be better if villagers you invite elsewhere for free you have to wait, but amiibos you don't. You get 'free' villagers quickly yet ones you buy with money you have to wait? It feels a bit backwards.

I already posted in the unpopular opinion thread, but I actually love the way amiibo work this time. I love the wait and the anticipation. I also love that you can sort of get to know the villager over these days and it feels like you make them actually want to move in.

I have a ton of cards, so I plan to scan in a lot of villagers just to talk to them and craft items for them, even if I don't plan to invite them to my island. It could also be helpful if you're torn between two villagers. It gives you more time to talk to each before deciding.

i don't really mind it! tbh the fact that they give you a recipe and a gift more than makes up for it for me, i've been scanning in amiibos to get diys even when i am not going to invite them.

get Pro Controller the scanner is in the middle of the controller not on the thumb stick plus it's the best controller to use

I also have a raised grip for my sticks and I don't have to take the grip off to scan the amiibo cards- are you scanning the right area of the amiibo cards?
