Anyone else kinda off put by some of the omissions so far?

This isn't specifically just directed at you, since I've seen this comment several times today.
What I'm wondering in response to everyone saying it's "too soon to worry" is when it isn't—like, when is the correct time to worry? I'm being serious.

We're at less than a week before release. How is that too soon? Saying we can't worry until we know for absolute certain makes no sense, because at that point, it's not a worry anymore. Worrying kind of depends on uncertain circumstances, right? xD

To be clear, I'm not too worried about anything. But there are some things that, if truly gone, I'll find quite disappointing. These things matter a lot to me, and hoping they'll be there is just the other side of worrying that they won't be. As long as people aren't all doom and gloom, I think it's more than reasonable to be concerned for those features' inclusion.

The answer to your question is when we have official confirmation that some of these things really truly are not present in the game.

When that happens, the best course of action is to take your concerns to social media (and maybe this forum too, don’t know if Nintendo looks at it) and voice them respectively.

And maybe they’ll bring patch it in a future update.

They could have had to sign something to keep them from giving too much information. I know the people at PAX did.

But that doesn't actually answer my question xD
That's maybe a response to when to be upset or even complain, but not to when to worry. Like I said, you can't really worry about things that you already know. The whole premise of worrying relies on a lack of certainty.

Nobody is throwing a fit or anything, they're just sharing concerns. I don't understand why some people are so bothered or confused by that tbh lol

I think some worry is warranted for certain aspects for example our post office crew don’t seem like they have a place anymore or rover. But there lots of things we still have no information, Yes it okay to worry about that but saying that they are absolutely removed because of that. I don’t agree with that. Having the reviews come out give us some new information but still couldn’t share everything. One common thread i found them mentioning is how slow the progression is and how much 3 weeks wasn’t enough. They appear to play as intended and thats what they could share. If they time travel ahead of those 3 weeks they couldn’t share that.

You can tell that the game is still unfinished despite the delay. They weren’t even able to make a model for Resetti despite boasting about his new role LOL

They’re probably going to pull a Star Allies and add all the missing content in updates alongside the holidays, but that’s just me speculating.

i was a bit thrown off by some things, but not too much, most are like, what you kind of expected to hear i'd think! the only thing i felt bleh hearing about mostly was that it's "slooooooow" but i know new leaf was also very slow and that's just how these games are so what can ya do!! other than that, i think there will be more updates in the near future to add more things we might really appreciate rather than just events, i'm hoping. overall, it doesn't look bad, but i know every game has it's disappointments, especially if it's a game with a few different ones so it has many expectations in it's older games to hold up to and it can't include them all, sadly! but we'll see :3

I'm curious. I wasn't around for the New Leaf launch. Did the New Leaf reviews say anything about the Nookling's shop upgrading as many times as it did? Did they say that Gracie Grace was part of the last upgrade? Did they say that you could work at the cafe? Did they say that after you had Katrina take your fortune so many times then she would ask to move into main street?

Animal Crossing is a slow game. I don't think that the early reviewers would have enough time to try to binge as many days as they could. Especially those who might refuse to time travel.

Now, if there are some big concerns after the game has released and it has been at least a month, then I would say that people would be justified with being upset over missing things. Especially missing things that have been in the franchise since the beginnig. Like the pelican post office.

I agree and they really zoomed in on slowness of it. Also in one of the reviews they said they couldn’t share beyond the date March 16th so if they time travel beyond that date, they couldn’t share that information at least until the game came out.

Yeah I mean they don't want to spoil it ahead of time, Nintendo is crafty with their information

feel like many feel the same, but my only worries are that gyroids and brewster won't be in :c

I'm definitely not bothered about the gyroids, they were always kind of a hassle for me to dig up anyways. I would be super bummed if Kapp'n and Rover weren't incorporated but knowing Nintendo that wont happen (hopefully)

The lack of gyroids is my only concern honestly.
Limit of 10 is normal
Rover only appeared at the start of the game anyway ykno.
Kapp'n may still come back and if he doesnt one less creepy old guy to worry about imo
Dream suit or something similar may come back, I dont see why not as it was extremely popular in NL.

Animal crossing is a SLOW game and I feel like everyone is forgetting this.
Not having the dream suit after 3 weeks feels normal to me especially in a game that is making you start at nothing; way far behind than other titles.
Just to get QR codes in NL took a while. The dream suit took time to unlock then pay for.
Honestly dont think we will know much until a real datamine comes out or the guide comes out

Completely agree, i'm still very excited I find many of the issues nitpicky and small and every main series has always had cuts/changes overall i'm good w/ 10 :'3 I'm still all out to enjoy this fully when it releases o/

I'm trying to be optimistic because they only had a small amount of time to play in the grand scheme of things. But I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about some key things being potentially missing. I do not like the trend of games being released unfinished, needing patches and DLC to full flesh out features and such.

Well, gyroids being gone I can understand. They're a bit of Japanese culture and it doesn't really translate over. Players might be annoyed or confused when they try to dig up fossils and find them instead.

I don't care much about most of the missing NPCs but I can't lie: I'm pretty disappointed about Brewster not being in. I wonder why they decided against that. Is it not realistic that a tropical resort island would have a café?

The 10 villager limit was anticipated but still a bit disappointing.

Only 8 new villagers was also kinda suspected, but yeah, a letdown. I wish they had added a bunch of new Uchis cuz there are so few and we all have to start with them. We're all very likely to have the same villagers at the beginning of the game lol.

I'm also feeling a bit discouraged that we only get 8 new fish and 8 new bugs, but with the removal of 30 deep sea creatures making the total much less to collect. Lack of swimming itself is disappointing too.

If the villager dialog is much better with more variety, then I think that'll compensate, but those are completely different areas of development (writing vs. modelling) so I don't see why it would have to be one vs another – it seems artificial to think they focused on one as if it is a tradeoff.

I think maybe I need to stop reading new info about the game cuz I was quite excited about it before getting into the nitty gritty.

Not disagreeing, because you might be right about some non-Japanese players feeling that way. Personally though, I didn’t know anything about their cultural background and didn’t really need to—I just accepted them as being “a thing” in the world of AC. Sometimes that’s enough.

THANK YOU—100% this!! I’ve seen that line of argument so many times, and honestly find it quite frustrating.

I really am glad that the villagers have been improved in personality and animation, but if anything that just softens the blow of the lack of new ones—it’s not an excuse or even explanation of why there aren’t any.

(Also more Uchis would’ve been great! There are so few comparatively, and many people agree that as a whole they have the worst designs)

Well, I am pretty bummed that we'll only be limited to 10 villagers on our island (same as with New Leaf), assuming this information is true. I was hoping that we'd get as much villagers as the GameCube Animal Crossing had now that AC is on the Switch, which is said to be one of the most powerful Nintendo consoles to date. As for some of the characters mentioned not making a return or gyroids being removed, I'm not so bothered about. I'll miss digging up graves and finding gyroids as a reward, but I hardly used them. And I'm not really attached to that many NPC that it would bother me if they didn't make it. Maybe Tortimer and Nook I would miss if they were gone, and I'll sort of miss Kapp'n, but that's about it.

Still not a deal breaker for me.
