Anyone else not a fan of the new hourly music?

With every new game, I hope for the cat music from gc to come back in some way, so there's always a little bit of disappointment.

Regardless, I am somewhat disappointed that some of the afternoon music sound too similar, but there are some really great tracks.
3am is easily the best hour in the game, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Just got town hall today and only heard a few tracks I really like what I’ve heard.

I've noticed a lot of the hourly music in this game sounds almost identical to each other. It uses the same New Horizons riff way too much, and the same guitar noises. Like we get it. Its an island paradise. I just wish it sounded more like Wild World or New Leaf's hourly music to add more diversity :/

I'm honestly not a big fan of it. There's certain tracks I like, but most of them feel super repetitive which is kind of disappointing. I'm totally down for change, however most of the New Horizons hourly tracks all have the same feeling. In New Leaf, the hourly music really matched the time of day each track played at. There was a gradual change as afternoon tracks turned to evening, evening tracks lurked into nighttime, etc. New Horizons seems to lack that, unfortunately. Last night I was playing at 2AM and I was really enjoying the music, it was melancholic and felt perfect for 2AM, but then 3AM hit and I totally lost the immersion? Having such different tracks back to back took me out of the moment and felt rather awkward. I had to look up the rest of the hourly music for this, but the 5AM track is another one I like. Though I feel like it would have fit as the 3AM track. 2AM and 5AM have a similar vibe. They're different enough, but also fit as late night music imo. The order some of these tracks in is just odd and I wish they had a better flow, but not to the point where they sound identical, like most of the day music.

TLDR; Most of the tracks are repetitive and not all of them fit their designated hour. There are certain tracks that stand out, but they don't all flow nicely together as a whole, and feel a little "clunky" at certain transitions.

I believe the music changes into something more sophisticated as you move on and develop into the game.

YEAH I agree with most people above, I miss the slower stuff from New Leaf - I find that this is a lil too funky and repetitive all the time LMAO

I do like 3AM though, it's chaotic

i enjoy what i've heard of it, since i just got my town hall built today. i'm not one to really care that much about the hourly music, just not my thing i guess. i haven't listened to any other hours outside of when i'm playing the game so i'm looking forward to the 3am one since many people like it.. i think so far my favorite was the 6pm one.

I love the entire OST I think I like it more than New Leaf's, tbh. My favorite ones will forever be the GCN and WW OST, for sure, but this one is definitely nº3. I think the only track I dislike is 8:00 a.m. All other tunes, I really adore. Evening and night tunes are incredible! Possibly some of my favorite ones in the entire series.

There are some tracks that I'm iffy about (2 pm...) but I really like most of them! I think they have a cute, fun vibe to them, and I love a lot of the night tracks. I think they're not quite as dramatic as New Leaf but the ambience really adds to the deserted island feel. I especially like 9PM

Ehhh, they're okay and I don't hate them, but I prefer New Leaf's OST much more, especially the ones during nighttime when it sounds more mysterious and emotional. I'm constantly reminded of Kevin MacLeod's "Cipher" everytime I listen to the new tracks in New Horizons and they all kinda sound the same after a while.

Its my least favorite in the series... Im not a big fan of the ambient style they were going for with sudden winey noise.. They are not really distinguishable from each other either

I personally love the new music, but I can see why some people don't. It doesn't hold the same kinda nostalgia of the other games. It's very very different compared to them.
3am is silly and perfectly describes being awake at 3am. lol

My town hall is being built right now so it hasn't unlocked for me yet. Based on descriptions here I think I'll probably still like it but it's too bad it seems like all the favs are in the middle of the night when I'll be asleep (I don't TT either)

I enjoy the 5 AM and 12 PM track! The 2 PM track, however, grate on my nerves. I think this is the first AC game where there's a track that I can't stand. Otherwise everything is fine by me, if not multiple tracks sounding very similar.

1am, 2am, and 5am are gorgeous. The soundtrack for NH is far better than NL which is my least favorite in the series. I always had to play NL muted. Like others though, I have noticed the incredibly similar songs in the soundtrack around afternoon which I think is weird. Nothing will ever top Gamecube's soundtrack.

I've got to hear some of it for the first time today. Some of the tracks are really dull, others are okay.

They're definitely better than the tutorial song, and they make me feel more motivated and creative around my town .

I don't know what to say about it from what I've listened to. It's different to say the least. I don't have the game yet, so I've only casually sampled some. It is a bit more ambient than what I'm used to, and often reuses motifs from other AC games. I think it's just the fact that the took a different direction with the music that us fans weren't expecting as to why it got such a mixed reception.

it's not BAD, per se... but it's not anything special. :^( i leave the radio on in my house and when "animal city" came on i stopped and listened for a while cause i'd forgotten what fun music sounded like. i'm definitely biased towards the WW/CF soundtracks though lol

I only just unlocked the hourly music today, I don't mind it but I definitely prefer New Leaf's hourly music! I didn't mind the tutorial music either, but the hourly music is a nice change from that LOL
