Anyone here who suffers from the drifting joy-con issue?

I thankfully haven’t had any issues with drifting yet. I don’t use my joycons too often, though. If they ever start drifting I’ll send them to Nintendo and hope for a good repair.

But they really haven't done a great job with repairs. People already reported drifting again regardless of them being fixed :/

That’s likely a vocal minority of people. I’m sure most are properly fixed.

I think you guys from the U.S can legally go through the process of having Nintendo repair it for you, due to the lawsuit against them. However this is only for you guys, anywhere else in the world and you have to repair it yourself or buy a new pair, which really sucks :S

I actually just sent mine in for repair and the whole process took about a week. Granted I live 10 mins from Nintendo of America so there’s that

I haven't had any issue with my Joy-cons yet, though I will say I've only had the Switch since back in April. I hope I don't have any trouble with it, although if I have to get a new pair it'll give me an excuse to buy those pink & green Joy-cons :>

My joycons drift like every second. My pro controller drifts too now.

Not only did I have drifting issues (with my original red/blue joycons), but I then had issues with my green/pink joycons randomly disconnecting while playing Splatoon, then had the same issues with my neon yellow joycons. I purchased custom white joycons with coloured buttons in February off of Ebay that have held up really well. They've only disconnected randomly once, but they've held up longer than any of the other joycons I've had. I play Splatoon a lot so I'm not surprised that my joycons wore down, I just hate that it happened so quickly.

Oh no. I was going to get a pro controller as a solution.

What brand is your pro controller?

I think it takes a lot more for a pro controller to drift and it probably also depends on how you use it, maybe??? I've had mine for about a year and I've used it for Splatoon (when I used to play on TV) and my brother uses it for Splatoon and other games as well, but it doesn't ever drift. It's probably a better solution than buying new joycons, but of course, nothing's perfect.

I had problems with my left joy con drifting and it got so bad that I couldn't play any games because the character would walk off the edge countless times. It really drove me crazy so I finally ended up buying a new pair of joy cons.

Apparently, you can get it sent back to Nintendo to get them fixed.

But yeah, my left joycon drifts and it's horrible when you want to play Mario Cart

I've been suffering this issue for at least a year now on the left joycon, but I feel a bit lazy to send it in for repairs because I know the problem will just return again in a matter of time. It really doesn't help at all when you're playing Smash Bros. and Dragon Quest 11 (you can scroll through dialogues with the stick in that game and I had it go through a few times before I even finish reading them). There is this one video I've seen on youtube that may help eradicate the problem. It should be done at your own risk of course.

Does this include us Canadian folks? Or are we screwed as well?

When I get my switch, I am going to get a controller. But apparently, even the controllers have drift issues. I hope mine will not.

I don't want to fork out that amount of money on something that clearly has unresolved issues.

I want to know if nintendo is working on fixing this permanently. Or are they just going to keep producing faulty products that need ongoing repairs?

After what I've read especially about us Aussies having to pay $100 to get them fixed I don't think I will buy one.

I really was looking forward to New Horizons too, but I can't afford that much on something that is poorly made.

I'm just going to say it. To me, the Switch in general feels poorly made. The fact that they can sell joycons for $100 (CAD) is outrageous. Unlike the PS4 controller which feels solid and strong, the joycons feel like fragile to me and made of cheap materials.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea with the switch but I'm just not super impressed with the hardware and don't think it's worth its price point.

It's not cheap. I'm just worried about paying half a grand for something nintendo hasn't even bothered to fix before releasing it.

So many people are having the drift problem making games unplayable.

It's put me right off to be honest. :(

I haven't used my Switch much, but I did notice a bit of controller lag when playing Super Mario Odyssey. Ended up causing a few near-deaths, since you can't afford to have imprecise timing while platforming. Those joycons are the first Nintendo controller I've used that has any noticeable lag. Not sure if I've experienced any drift though.

I remember something similar to this drift issue was a huge problem with Wii nunchuks and having to replace them every few months. The difference here is that while nunchuks were relatively cheap, joycons are not.
