Are you a grinch at Christmas, or do you love it?

I'm kind of grinch. Always with a sad memory, these past a few more years.
But I have too many Christmas songs I love, to hate this holiday.
Singing them often with my beloved one and it feels so good. I love singing.

I'm definitely not a Grinch or Scrooge during Christmas. I'm very fond of the Christmas season and really like finding gifts for people that I think they'll like and seeing their reactions, baking Christmas cookies for everyone to enjoy, decorating the tree, and hanging out around the glow of the Christmas tree lights. Just the whole general vibe of this time of year is pleasant and I like to spread the good cheer.

Idk I like it, I don't get really into the 'spirit' or anything though. Like I can't be bothered to decorate, I never willingly put on Christmas music myself, there's only a couple Christmas movies I actually like, et al. I enjoy seeing everything become so briefly festive though, with lights everywhere and stuff, it's cozy. :} They just put up the decorations in the lobby where I work and it makes it a little less sad to walk in there everyday. Lol

We don't have any big traditions in my family either which I can't say I mind, as I'm not a fan of gatherings and never have been. If there's one thing about Christmas that I do really get into it's trying to find good presents for everybody, I'm a freak about that hahah

We never celebrated Christmas cuz my parents are agnostic, but it's a nice season and it's cool to have work/school off and see some family

My condolences for your hardship. It’s awesome of you for keeping the positive in perspective. That’s not easy to do.

As for me, this holiday season will be completely different (for many reasons) and I’m not happy about that. But, oh well, I’ll try to make lemonade out of this.

I'm a grinch when it comes to Christmas music. That stuff will drive me insane. Otherwise, I enjoy the holiday. It's nice to relax and spend time with friends and family.

I love it! This last Christmas was a bit on the downside for certain reasons, and this year will be the first Christmas and New Years without him. But trying my best to not be Grinch-y about it all LOL.

I like it overall! I like decorating; I always join my family putting up the Christmas lights and my brother and I always put the tree up together. I do kinds enjoy the music? Although its going to drive me insane working in retail over summer. I'm not really a fan of Christmas movies, just not my thing I guess.I love giving presents to others and receiving them too.

The only downside is the family gatherings. Some years they have started planning it as early as September, but it never works out anyways. There's always a drama of whose house its gonna be at, what everyone brings, what everyone gets, people not doing this and that...ugh the list goes on forever. Whenever I've attended a get together, no one talks to me and I can only relate to the kids. I'm extremely awkward around my extended family. My immediate family don't usually tag along with them thankfully.

I'm A Grinch (Sorry)

Lately, to me, I've become more of a Grinch due to the way that my family, both my mom and my dad's sides, have seen Christmas. Growing up, Christmas was an awesome time of year and I never knew or understood how much work my mom had put into it for me and my two older brothers until I turned 15.

Side Note: When you turn 15, your not considered a "child" anymore, which means that you don't receive gifts from everyone like a "child" would. You get put into a drawing and who ever you draw, you buy them a present and that's their only present. It's likewise for you. So, if someone draws my name, then they have to buy me a gift.

The main issue I have with this, is that most people settle out for gift cards. I think gift cards are the laziest and most inconsiderate gift to someone. Regardless, they're your family, you should at least, TRY and find out what they like. This is why I'm a Grinch about it, because no one puts any thoughts or cares into their gifts anymore. I try and figure out what a person likes and if they don't like it then just re-gift it.

Another thing is that when I found out how much effort my mom puts into Christmas and how much the others don't, it made both me and my brothers mad and we begged her to give up and leave Christmas to them since they don't seem to care like she does, but sadly, she won't. Now whenever it's me and my parents and brothers, we celebrate how close we are and we put so much thought and care into each other's gifts that we don't care about going to my grandma's and only getting one gift or getting ragged on about personal issues. I love Christmas because my parents and brother's make it all the more special because it's all these issues that has brought us together.

It only occured to me recently that families do this. Sorta like a secret santa thing haha. It seems like a good idea as you're not buying a whole bunch of presents for everyone, but when people don't put effort in like you've said it sucks. No one in my family (apart from my immediate family) would know what to buy me as they don't truly know me at all lol. I've never experienced this as we have never bought for our extended family, as awful as it sounds. Like I have never gifted anything to my uncles, aunties, cousins etc. In a way I kinda like just buying for my immediate family (+ grandparents) as it's more special to me.I feel sorry for my grandma as she has to get gifts/give money to her 3 kids and their partners, the 8+ grandkids and their partners and the 14+ great grandkids lol.

i think everyone expects me to be a grinch (which i am 99% of the time) but i actually love christmas. i have lots of good christmas memories so yeah it’s pretty special to me

I'm not remotely Christian, but I love Christmas! The food, the lights, the music, the movies... it's all so lovely. I'll probably enjoy it even more when I have the money to give gifts. <3

I'm more of a grinch, honestly. I don't enjoy the music, I don't enjoy decorating, I certainly don't enjoy the weather as a commuter. The only nice thing is having time off from university & getting free things.

I love Christmas and everything around it. I decorated two gingerbread houses and a village already, and it's barely even December. One of the gingerbread houses went to my cousin and his fiance, the other one is at work, and the village is at home.

My cousin's fiance had never decorated a gingerbread house in her life. :(

I don't do much gift giving, though, since I'm poor until my job starts to pay me. My fiance got some gifts from me, though. I got him a t shirt, some Pop figures, and I printed a lot of pictures for him at college.

Take one look at me and tell me I'm a Grinch.

I dare you

grinch

But yeah honestly I wish people weren't so much ordering *their* set celebrations around and being together etc. Like what if I wanna be alone eating toffee all day and watch my tv shows etc.

I love Christmas, December is the time of the year when I am happiest.

Yeah I love Christmas!Favorite time of year for me is winter. I like the decorations and the music. I also enjoy the movies every year. Also we get time off during this year from school. The food is also usually amazing. I also like giving presents to family and my dog. Honestly I just have a lot of good memories surrounding Christmas and winter. So I always feel nostalgic this time of year. The snow is also so lovely.
Although family gatherings on the other hand... All they know how to do is argue when they're together so that's why I just like spending time with my mom and siblings and probably gram.

I really can't stand Christmas, it brings out so much ugliness- family drama, cynical commercialism, nasty conditions for service workers, heavy pressure to buy gifts we don't need and create excess waste. It feels like worshipping consumerism rather than being anything worthwhile or nice. The religious aspect is also extremely offputting as well.

The only bit I like is Christmas Eve, because I can settle down knowing the world will be quiet the next day and the whole affair will be over for another ten months.
