That does make sense. I've had a lot of things happen to me as well that calling someone a "best friend" is kinda symbolic for me. It just really means I trust whoever it is deeply. I don't just hand out the title to anyone.

Ahh, yeah, I was the same till college started. I got bullied a whole ton as well. However, I've mostly made friends online. Like I said above, I just don't hand out the title. It just really means that I trust that person deeply and that I've really gotten to know them over a long period of time.

I've only ever called two people my best friend. One of them is gone, the other I've known since we were in 7th grade.
I haven't been afraid to call someone my best friend before, but pretty much only because I don't make friends that easily.. so the ones I do make, are very close and special to me.

I don't have much friend experience; I was bullied every day from K through to senior year, and was never liked very much. So I'm not the best person to ask that question, hahah

I've slept poorly and even after taking medicine, I still feel like my head is going to split open. On the bright side though, one of my best friends came back after being MIA...I was practically shaking last night, I was so happy to hear from her again and to know she's safe ;v;

Weird question but, have you guys ever been afraid to call someone your best friend because you don't know how they'd react? I've done it a few times and have received both positive and negative comments from different people I called "best friend" for the first time in the past.

yes- i haven't had a genuine best friend in a while, but last year i kept in touch with one of my friends for camp the entire year- we talked every single day and i don't think i've ever been as close to someone as i was with her. we're still friends, but being 3000+ miles apart is pretty much impossible, but i'm so grateful for our friendship c: i didn't know if she considered me her best friend, so when she started calling me hers, i did as well. i think we're as close as sisters now honestly.

Yeah, I can understand that. The last real life best friend I had, we had a fall out simply because I moved and another reason I'd rather not mention other than that I blame myself even if it was something I couldn't help. I just miss her. We were best friends since 3rd grade all the way till my junior year of high school.
