Resident Rep of Bear Isle
Anyone who knows anything about me (which is probably almost no one here) knows that I'm a total newbie when it comes to Animal Crossing, but I've quickly fallen in love with the games and the overall theme of befriending animals and hanging out with them. I started with Pocket Camp, pre-ordered New Horizons, recently bought and started Wild World, and that brings me to what's next for me... New Leaf!
You might think "Well golly gee Banjo, doesn't it seem really soon to jump from Wild World to New Leaf? You haven't even played a month yet, cha-chomp?" If you did think that, hi Fang I love you please come visit me and also you're right...BUT there's a method to the madness that has overtaken me.
I am enjoying Wild World for what it is, and that's the closest thing I could grasp at to an original, true Animal Crossing game, without the bells and whistles and some of the downsides that come with both Pocket Camp and New Horizons. For me, specifically, it is the lack of true variety in the interactions with the villagers. New Horizons checks off so many boxes for what game needs to make me fall in love with it, but it just falls slightly short of being able to topple Banjo-Tooie as my favorite game of all time. Wild World has given me some of that, but also has fallen a little short too in what I thought I was going to be getting into. Not to worry, for I still fully plan on playing Wild World for a while more to get a good grasp on the game overall and perhaps I'll start really enjoying it pretty soon (probably after the Acorn festival is over). Follow my experiences here!
Anyways, that brings me to New Leaf. Part of the reason for getting New Leaf is because I hated playing Wild World on my old DS Lite. It's old, but more importantly it's small and hard to see things. I already looked up and saw that there is some stretching of DS games on the 2DS XL (and saw if I want original resolution to hold start and select as the game starts up, no worries) but it would be nice to see how it looks and feels on a newer handheld. Of course, if I was buying a 2DS XL, I might as well get New Leaf because I know that I want to play it, and I know prior to New Horizons, it was all the rage, and from what I see online it still is quite popular for many, many reasons.
At this time, I'm still waiting for my 2DS XL to come in as well as New Leaf, the former coming Tuesday but the latter hasn't shipped yet. I'm making this a placeholder for, just as I did with Wild World, me to catalog my experiences with the game, note any differences that are noteworthy to me, and so random people I don't know can say "hmm that Banjo fella sure is an odd bear" and I can pretend people read these things.
I type a lot, my boss has said the same thing. Anyways, I'll keep this thread updated on a daily basis if I can, as long as I'm able to play. Oh and for anyone interested, I did buy the Welcome Amiibo version from Best Buy that comes with an amiibo card, and with the amiibo cards being re-launched in November, I'm super psyched and hoping to nab some villagers I love. Really want to get Fang in this as he's not available in WW, but hey I'm happy with almost anyone! And I'm just excited! Oh boy!
