Mine were definitely in the good neighborhoods I grew up in, I had a few of them, the house I have my earliest memory of living in was right across from the elementary school and so there were a lot of families with kids, the house directly across from us had 5 girls so my sister and I had lots of friends there and our families were really close, there was also a few families further down the street that I made friends with as well.
One of my fondest memories on that street was when we had like a taco Tuesday thing and all the kids from the neighborhood piled into our living room and we watched the Aristocats. There had to be like 12 kids in our living room eating tacos.
Later we moved to another really cool neighborhood, this one had a bunch of neighbors with kids as well so we had lots of fun there, it was a really close neighborhood as well and we use to close off one side of the block and have HUGE block parties, like I mean with tents and music, jumpy houses and everything, it was super fun even though one year on NYE my mom broke her leg cause my sister and I... persuaded a slightly intoxicated mom to come into the jumpy house with us. X.X I remember a lot from that neighborhood cause I was a bit older there, climbing a big magnolia tree to get on my neighbors roof, practicing the moves to "Genie in a Bottle" with my friends in their front yard, walking to the store with my mom's boyfriend's kid and buying something we were supposed to (like candy or cookies or something) and eating them all before we got back home. It was a neat place to grow up and I have lots of fond memories.
I also had ANOTHER neighborhood that was awesome, it was out near a farm on the far end of the same town so it was a it more "country" but we lived in a cool neighborhood that was down a big hill, at the end of street of matching newer houses was a dirt driveway with tons of trees growing out into a little forresty area and that's where my really good friend lived, she was French(but spoke english) and her parents, although they utilized electricity to light their home didn't have electronics and all of their toys were wooden, it was really amazing getting to experience a bit of their life because I spent so much time there. The only movie the children had ever seen was the Sound of Music, ONCE and they knew all of the words, the only 'technology" they used was a record player, it was really cool. Her family was amazing, and I remember going on afternoon walks with them often and we'd go an feed the horses at the farm. (It was during my horse phase, I am pretty sure most girls go through.) And then me and Rose, my friend, would ride our bikes and pretend they were horses. =]
The basic theme is, all of the good stuff was outside of the houses I grew up in (for the most part) because the inside life in those houses weren't the best.
