this image comes to us from twitter user @wario655535 in which we can see brand new art featuring stairs that lead up to a higher plateau!

it's hard to tell but it looks like the stairs are actually made of brick. the path may also be made of some kind of brick but it's hard to tell because of the resolution.

oops, sorry jacob. looks like you posted your reply as soon as i edited the picture into the comment. yours is slightly more zoomed in though so i think you should keep it there. i actually just noticed we get a new better look at other flower buds and the new roses.

EDIT: just noticed it got edited again. thanks for uploading the full image. :D

OMG I love the stairs! I really hope this will be a thing! Totally going to build my house like that if we can.
I also love the wreath on the door, I hope we'll get to change it for every season and not just during Christmas time.

Sooo cute.
Building looks like it is going to be a lot of fun. Also, the villager's outfits have been so on point.

There's too much info to take in from this, I'm sobbing. I love the elevated house and the stairs... and FENCES! I can't wait to make beautifully decorated front lawns. The house doesn't seem to have a mailbox? (or it's covered by baby joan) So maybe it's a villager house/NPC house? I hope we can place our houses on elevated land as well! But more importantly, it looks like the "dirt paths" don't connect to bridges and stairs T_T this displeases me.

Looks so good! Stairs is something so basic but yet something I never thought about. It looks really good and natural!

I’m also a bit bothered that the path doesn’t connect to the bridges and stairs. I remember in the initial E3 footage the path went right to the door but then in the 30 second promo clip released on 1st Jan the path did not connect to the door anymore. Wonder why they made that change...

The stairs look so nice, I didn't expect them to be used in such a way (I guess i just envisioned natural ramps?).
The only thing that comes to mind is where exactly we'll be able to place our houses when we first arrive?
If there's no ramps/stairs when we move will we have the option to place our houses in these 'locked' areas?

Build-able stairs look great. Love the idea of slowly gaining the ability to access new areas of the island - makes a welcome change from new areas to explore being entire other locations separated from the main town. Fits the 'starting from nothing' theme quite nicely, too.

I hope there are similar things. I said in another thread that I could really get behind the idea of building an up-market docks/jetty shopping district, like a lot of waterfront cities have.

Port towns? Yes.

It's also nice to see villagers sitting on benches and doing candid activities such as drinking and eating. That's really a step in the right direction as far as making the island feel more lively.

Oh wow! This is so amazing!!! They really have stepped things up (◍︎˃̶ᗜ˂̶◍︎)✩︎
The brick path and stairs just look so beautiful! I wonder what else we can do!!!
Thankies for sharing!!!♡♡♡

It looks like we can choose what to put on our wreaths!!! The flowers in the wreath peoke is holding only contains the flowers in the little garden area nearby...

That would be so much fun!!! Collecting little materials and such to use on your wreath! (Catching snowflakes, finding acorns or leafs, etc.)

That’s a good point, I just double checked one of the NH map and there doesn’t appear to be any indication of a ramp to access the elevated part of the map. Does that mean we won’t have access to the 2nd level of the map until we unlock the stair crafting recipe or PWP (if those are still a thing)? Will we not be able to plot our homes on the 2nd level? So many questions, lol.

Also, based on the image, it looks like the cliff of the 2nd level may not just be a straight line across the map, looks like there may be indentations on one side or the other, or some upper levels may be smaller than others. If that’s the case, island variations would be vast in New Horizons. Can’t wait to see how much our towns can differ from each other :D

This looks really cool. Just a shame the path doesn't extend all the way towards the bridge and staircase. The dirt path in the New Year's trailer not touching the house looked quite bad to me as well, I don't understand why they removed since it was there in the September Direct.

this post isnt about the flowers but the f l o w e r s yall im dying theyre so beautiful im ready for botany omg

It could be an upgrade feature that Nook gives us. Maybe he'll ask if we want an elevated land around our house, and the next day our house will magically be on an elevated land. Maybe we can upgrade the size around it as well, although it would "destroy" trees or whatever we built below it if it overlaps that area, kinda like how PWPs work? The stair types could be a customisation option at the new Nook homes equivalent as well!

This is my worry, because I'd greatly prefer to live north where the pines are. :( My thought is this: maybe your tent is move-able? And maybe you don't have to end up putting your house wherever it is that you place your tent? And you can stay in it for a longer amount of time if you want to clear out or gain access (*craft something to give you access) to the other "locked" areas of the island and place your permanent house there. If that's the case I'll wait as long as it takes to get up there, lol! And I really hope that is how it'll work! Because that would really suck. :(
