Like in New Leaf: Welcome Amiibo? Or do you have to wait for that villager to move out the old fashioned way?

I haven't gotten that far in the game yet to use Amiibos. Unless you count Harvey's island.

Can you? Yes.

Should you? Not right now! There is a currently a bit of a game-breaking bug that is a direct result of Amiibo booting villagers, so I would strongly advise waiting to do this until a patch comes out.

You can use Amiibo to obtain villagers, but it takes 3 days to make them move to your town. Which means you gotta scan the amiibo every day, also if you keep talking to them they'll ask you to make them something you have in your DIYs which I believe needs to be done as well all three days.

People have started to recently report even more bugs.
Apparently, you can even bug your own game if you import an amiibo into your island.
I'm going to hold off using amiibo cards for the time being.

Did Nintendo announce they were gonna fix it?

They'll probably quietly do it, Nintendo doesn't really go into a lot of detail when it comes to updates/fixes. The only real game that gets detailed updates is Smash Brothers. Sorta annoying honestly, especially for the people who love Mario Maker 2.

Yeah, also given that it's a major screw-up for a game that's already been delayed, I don't think they're going to be very vocal about it.

Is there a source for this? From what I heard it only bugs if someone comes to your town to collect a villager that's moving.

Would also like to know that, as I'm forcing villagers out with amiibos (on the third one right now), and no issues so far. I've only heard of issues recently when the forced out villager is asked to move to another town.

I have used one Amiibo so far too, without problems. Though it’s scary, if these bugs are true and not fixed asap!
