So, I have absolutely loved looking at, admiring, being in awe, buying on occasion, some of the wonderful art on this forum!!!
I have always wished I could draw and produce such amazing art!
I am starting this thread with nervous anticipation of your feedback. Recently I have been playing around with ibisPaint and have done few pieces that I don't think are too terrible. I would be happy for any comments or tips ... Please be kind to me ... Lol ... I'm a sensitive soul

I have found that I get better results by doing a pencil sketch first and then using ibisPaint to finish my piece ... Here are a few examples:
(I do a lot of drawings that follow my Mayor Penelope's signature look ... Gracie Grace Zebra stripes with Floppy hat and large shades ... And of course, the ubiquitous Weiner Dog, Lulu

I am including a couple of lines out of a poem I wrote for the Belltree Fair contest

In the summer the cicadas fill the air with chirps and whirrs
A million insect voices humming sweetly blend and blur
From the palm trees at the sea edge comes a faint and steady rhythm
A hundred tiny beetle feet are drumming softly with them
I am quiet as I single out and follow just one voice
Sneaking silent, net at ready, for the Beetle of my choice

i really like these! the zell one is really good, i like the colors and the lines a lot. i think you should work on drawing eyes and hands, based on the third picture. the eyes of the dog and the person look very similar. dogs eyes are generally rounder, and humans are a little narrower. you should also try to shade a little! under the chin, on the forehead under hair, and on the skin next to clothes are good places to shade, as well as sometimes under the breasts depending on the subject's figure. the color used for shading should usually be a darker value of the same color, not black (shading with black results in a very 2005 nintendo-esque style lmao).

i really like your use in color in all of them, especially those used in the hair in the first one. in the third one, instead of using black to draw lines in the hair try using a darker value of brown. it'll make it look more realistic and less cartoon-y.

i think youre off to a really great start! the zell is very stylistic and i like it a lot. the other two you should just work on shading and anatomy (but p much everyone struggles with that, don't worry). i can't wait to see more from you!

Oh, thank you so much for the helpful advice! I will pour over it again and try to apply it as I go along! ... I am looking for help on how to shade ... Not sure of which tools or techniques in ibisPaint to use? And, omg ... Why did I try to draw an open hand holding a book!?!? Lol

Thanks for the kind words, and I will add my lil mouse and mushrooms pic to my thread ... They didn't turn out like I hoped, but optimistically, I can only go up from here, right? Hahaha

Aww, thank you ... Yes, I am just bumbling along trying to teach myself, watching how to videos and tutorials ... And wishing I had the talent to match my desire! Lol ... I have two capacitive touch stylus by Jot, but I find them hard to use on the iPad ... I get better results with my finger
The Wacom Intuos stylus sounds wonderful and I think is much better suited for use with the iPad ... I wish I could buy one too! Maybe there will be a Cyber Monday sale somewhere on them!
If anyone hears of one, please let me know!!

i wish i could give suggestions for stylus pens, but i think you're using a tablet (ipad) for drawing + apps, that's in a whole other realm for me ( i know nothing about it). it's crazy what can be done in apps though! i know there are a few sales going on for the wacom intuos pen, should totally check it out (amazon & bestbuy)

Thank you so much ... I am checking the prices and hoping to save up for a wacom intuos pen ... I have a friend checking for me in stores as well as online in her area (larger city) ... I have so much to learn, and I would like the proper tools to work with ... I am getting a little more used to what I can do with IbisPaint on my iPad ... having a lot of fun ... I am going to attempt some chibis ... should prove interesting! lol

Thank you for that tracking link! I entered my information and hopefully will get some response!
And thank you for the encouragement! I am going to work on shading and anatomy and style and .... lol ... the list goes on! I am going to try and search specifically for tutorials on shading using ibis paint ... perhaps there are some out there.
I have an idea for a chibi couple that I want to try ... if it turns out half decent, i will post it on this thread
