Confirmation on Placing and “Decorating” Villagers’ Houses!

i suppose the idea of empty houses fits the 'deserted island' theme. i like the idea of having more control over the interior and exterior of villager houses, but as @whitbit mentioned, i'd like my villagers to be able to express their own style too. it was frustrating in NL when villagers displayed a piece of furniture or clothing that didn't match their theme and i had limited control over that aspect.

basically i wouldn't mind starting from scratch but it would be nice to not completely start from scratch (bare house in the beginning but gradually unlock pre-determined furniture). i'd still have control over adding, changing or moving things around though for the sake of villagers' individual style. personally it already feels daunting for me to completely start the island from scratch too and design the town. maybe that will change though who knows

i’m not really excited for this feature at all tbh - designing my villager’s house was not really something i ever wanted to do, hence why i never bought hhd lmao

For me it's all about finding a balance—between keeping the villagers own style and altering things to fit personal tastes. I agree that having complete creative freedom isn't just daunting but also seems to take away from the villagers' individuality a bit. Like you said, I'd love to work with their style, adding some key pieces they want but with enough control to make it all look nice and cohesive :3

Yeah I'm honestly surprised they're making all players go through that process. I love that level (and area) of customization, but I know some people couldn't care less and might be overwhelmed or annoyed by it being mandatory.

Still, I wouldn't worry too much—I'm pretty sure it'll be much less about choosing their furnishings as checking off select items from a list we're given for each animal.
(can't deny that it bugs me a bit that we'll be paying for their items too, along with public decorations and everything else lol)

This is pretty cool. c: Great addition for story telling Islands!

In New Leaf, weren't you able to send villagers stuff and they'd wear it or use it?

I'm super excited about this, it's gonna be so fun customizing each of my villagers' houses to match their personalities! I had a lot of fun customizing homes in HHD, so I already love this feature :D

Does anyone know how we get to move in villagers through amiibos, yet?

Well, from everything I've seen it looks like it'll be similar to how to campsite worked in NL: the campsite is back, some villagers will randomly show up, and you now additionally have the option to summon ones with amiibo cards. You can then choose to invite them to your town, just like before with the regular campers!
