Wow, my guess was WAY off. Like, pretty close to half. Those star fragments were really deceiving!

It's called konpeito! I actually hadn't heard the term prior to this event (found it by searching Amazon for 'star candy') but had seen it depicted in movies like Spirited Away. This is the exact product I used.
