Dark Veil 2

"Oh well, I think I am going to-" I turn and notice Alex had already fallen asleep on my arm and I shake my head with a chuckle. After putting a sleeping Alex in bed, I head off to the pool and relax there, bored.

My eyes straining, I continue sketching in my notepad. This notepad is like a companion to me; I wrote in this same notebook when I was just six years old, and I still write in it now. The book is gargantuan, requiring two firm hands to hold it comfortably. It's quite wide, and has many sheets of paper attached to the back. I generally think of tactical plans inside my book, seeing as I prefer to be strategic and strong.

Everyone else was asleep, so I go for a walk. When I notice Cordelia, I see she is scribbling in a book. "What you doing?" I say sneaking up behind her, trying to peek in.

"Eep!" I shriek. "Oh, it's just you... You almost gave me a heart attack!"" I rub against my chest, directly above my heart. "Just doing some writing." I reply.

"Just some made-up tactics." I smile, yet he probably couldn't see it in the poorly lit room. "I draw out a map, then I illustrate what warriors will go there. I do it for fun."

(Blue is James... Who is a dude btw)

I lean in and look. "Wow, that's very smart, I couldn't come up with tactics like this." I say pointing to the page. "This is really good."

"Really, I couldn't come up with tactics like this! I would end up getting everyone killed about 5 minutes into the mission." I say with a little chuckle and look away.

I smile, and turn to the notepad. "It's all about using the environment. For example, I put archers parallel to the warriors with a river separating them, so the archers - who aren't as strong as the warriors - can quickly get rid of them."

I listen as Cordelia explains. "Wow, you really know your stuff." Trying to join in I point to her paper. "What if you line up a small team of mages behind the warriors about... Here." I say pointing to a location on the sheet.

"That could work!" I exclaim. "The mages could cast spells against the archers, and protect the warriors."

I carefully sketch a small drawing of mages behind the warriors, squinting with effort.
