Dav Pilkey, anyone?

So I was wondering if anyone else here has heard of Dav Pilkey's books (like Captain Underpants) and has read some of them in their childhood. I know my partner and I have, lol. We're both very excited about the Dog Man movie (especially my partner who enjoys the Dog Man books so much) and I've actually thought about continuing to binge-read the series to prepare myself for when I get to see it, which (hopefully) should be on their birthday.

Yes, I love them! I started with the 12th Captain Underpants book in 3rd or 2nd grade at the book fair they had every year during parent teacher conferences, which was twice a year, and then I got the 9th one (I’m not saying their actual titles because all of them are way too long lol) a while later. It was kind of confusing since both of them continued from where the one before it left off, so I decided I wanted to read all of the older ones. I don’t remember what order I got them in, but I do know that I’ve read all of them except for the 10th and 11th ones, and I actually have all of them in my bookshelf downstairs except for the 7th and 8th ones, which I bought on my dad’s tablet or Kindle (don’t remember which one) and read it there. I’m still curious as to what happened in the 10th and 11th ones.

When I heard that they were going to make Dog Man into an actual book series, I was hyped since it seemed like that would be really cool. I bought those whenever they came out since they would usually be at the book fair as well, and once I went to middle school and there wasn’t a book fair anymore, I would just order them. I have all of them up to Mothering Heights, and I think they have this one spin off book that seemed cute but I never got it. I really liked them. Petey was one of my favorite characters, so my favorite books were obviously the ones belonging to the arc where he gets a kid and slowly starts to become a good guy. It was really nice to see. I’m probably also going to watch the movie when it comes out.

I’ve also read that one book duology about kung fu cavemen and the one about superhero babies (it sounds so dumb saying this lol), but I don’t remember them as much.

So yes, I’m definitely familiar with Dav Pilkey.

I read those books all the time as a kid lol— Captain Underpants, and Super Diaper Baby. (I think the baby fought a giant poop man, like Mr. Hanky from “South Park.”) I also spent many precious moments playing games on his website lol.

I haven’t kept up with his latest work, though.

I was a huge fan when I was younger, and I still carry that with me to this day. I read most of Captain Underpants and Dog Man, as well as Super Diaper Baby and the caveman book (don't remember the name). I haven't read the more recent books, but my little brother is getting into them so... maybe I will soon.

I don't really read books, but since I work in a public library I see Dav Pikley's books all the time. they're definitely very popular! I know that he just released a new Dog Man book a few months ago! which is wild because The Scarlet Shedder was just released not long ago haha. I've thought about reading them because I'm interested in writing my own juvenile graphic/novels and the humour intrigues me

I've only read one book by him, I think...a Captain Underpants book. Was quite enjoyable though!

I did read and I think owned some of his Captain Underpants books as a kid, I think everything up to and including the Bionic Booger Boy books and also the first Super Diaper Baby book, which I distinctly remember having in French. I remember enjoying them! I also watched the Captain Underpants movie a few years ago when it was on TV since why not, lol.
