Hello folks, back again with another update from Storrs. Today, as you likely know, is the summer solstice! Enjoy your 24 hours of sunshine.
First of all, I considered changing my outfit but decided the one I was wearing was most fitting for the most summery day of the year. I checked my mail to find a red carnation from Mom (and Dad, I guess?) and a little message from Colton. After I closed my mailbox, Whitney came running up to me. She wanted to suggest a new nickname for me which was "kiddo". It wasn't bad, but I really like everyone calling me Bethers, so I told her to stick with that.
I decided to go on my routine search of town in the opposite direction of usual today, which turned out to be a refreshing little change. I found Deirdre in the hybrid breeding field. She wanted my Zipper Tank and proposed a trade for her Sno-Cone Tee. Reasoning that nothing could look worse on her than the Flame Shirt she's wearing, I agreed only to find out that she didn't change into her new shirt. Oh well, the trade was good enough to send her off whistling.
Chief called me over behind Re-Tail and told me a shady fox-dude had conned him into a Proper Painting. Since our museum already has one of those, I unfortunately had to decline his offer. Fang was out beside Buck's and told me Chief had come over to visit him. According to Fang, apparently he does that a lot. And every time he tells Fang that his house could use better decorations. He isn't exactly wrong. I knew I had Fang's old Lady Palm for sale in Re-Tail so I went to take that down and give it to him. Hopefully he puts it behind his bed NEXT to his other plant, and not in place of it.
Felicity pinged by the cobblestone bridge and asked me to get her a fruit. I ran a short way's over to the bonfire where a few durians were lying on the ground and picked one up for her. She rewarded me with a Waffle Shirt which was a first to mark off of my catalog.
I found Buck home and stopped in to see what my best pal was up to. He told me he'd found something he lent to Colton "like, a million years ago," and I told him I would for sure return it to him as I figured I would find him around his house I would get to very soon along patrol.
A little birdie on the bulletin board informed me of the results from yesterday's Bug-Off. I wasn't quite into participating or even attending the award ceremony, so I was glad to see who came out on top. Whitney won with an astounding 54 points, well above second place Deirdre (40 points) and third place Felicity (39 points).
Shortly after I came to the suspension bridge, crossed over into the forest, and found Colton to be at home. I went in to say hello and hand over Buck's delivery. Colton did not, unfortunately, disclose the contents of the box, but thanked me with a Lychee. I spoke to him again to see if anything was going on with him, and he asked me to bring Felicity over to him within the hour. Interested in what he wanted with her myself, I eagerly agreed to fetch her.
After I finished my inspection of the town, I made a stop by the plaza to talk to Isabelle and bask in the glow of the summer sun. She gave me some Ladder Shades and I put them on, though I knew from experience that they do not, in fact, block any sun from going in your eyes. Regardless, I felt very spirited.

On my way to find Felicity, I bumped into Deirdre, who wanted a word with me. She told me she was planning on moving away on the 26th. Had she heard my plans to landscape where her house is after she's gone?
Apparently not, because if she HAD she would know that I want her to suggest those PWPs first! So of course I had to put a stop to her plans.
I found Felicity just beyond where we were talking, in the Zen Park. I told her Colton needed to see her and she was happy to come with me in hopes that Colton would have cake to share. In the short time it took me to fetch Felicity, Colton evidently sat out another shirt, right where his lovely Classic Desk used to be, to the left of his bed. -.-

He's slowly beginning to ruin his beautiful house.
Anyhow, the item ended up being Felicity's No. 2 Shirt, and Colton rewarded me for my chore with his "prized" Saddle Fence. Fitting, considering he's a horse and all.
Next I skipped back over to Re-Tail to sell my daily findings. Greta came in while I was there and I was happy to get to talk to our new villager for a moment. Usually my villagers are never out and about their first day in town but instead tend to hang around the shops, and Greta was no exception. She didn't have much to say so I made my way up to Main Street for my routine shopping.
I made it up to Gracie's floor of T&T, still debating whether or not I want to start buying her summer collection. Didn't exactly feel like hitting up the bank, so I would put it off to another day. I was, however, happy to see some Aviator Shades for sale -- exactly what I'd been waiting to see ever since she switched over to her summer items.

I bought them right up and put them on, though I was beginning to enjoy my Ladder Shades. But I'll be able to alternate with both as the summertime goes on.
Lastly I buried my daily fertilizer, watered my breeding flowers, and gave Chester his last dose of medicine. And that's all for today. I'm glad I had enough stuff to talk about and get back into the habit of blogging. Until tomorrow!
