I traded a couple of times with folks on here, and both experiences were fine! However, both trades did not come up out of "I'm offering this, what's the highest price you'll give me", we just ended up having what the other side needed/generosity in abundance.

I've always traded either here or on a very well moderated discord server, and I never had any problems.
I did sometimes trade on nookazon in the beginning, and always had pleasant interactions... But I always checked their reviews and if my offer wasn't high enough I just waited for someone else who was selling that item. I stopped trading there because I think its a very chaotic website and i do most online things on my phone and don't have the patience to navigate such a website lol.

I do always feel really bad when people say theyve had bad experience with trading! Maybe you should look out for some reliable discord servers or just look through the market place here. I'm pretty sure you can buy almost everything on this forum, only villager trading is a bit harder to do here.

I do appreciate your advice but I gotten everything I wanted from trading so its good, its just that I had to go through so much pain and struggle just to get them.

Ah that makes me sad :(
My experience from this community is probably the main thing that keeps me coming back! I probably can't help you any further then, but hopefully you won't have any more negative encounters, or at least don't need any encounters.

But if you ever need something or wanna chill you can always contact me or other people who you're close with :) because this community is pretty amazing and wholesome in its core 🥰🌸

I dont play with strangers at all really.
I will trade with my actual friends but not strangers. I have given away villagers to strangers for free though.

I cant get behind the communities structure of making people pay stupid prices for things. If i were to charge for anything, it would be the actual costs of the item.

I also worry that I might get scammed in some way or if they came to my island they would deface it in someway.

So yeah, I will give away reneigh to someone for free on here probably when I get her photo, but other than that, I have no interest in playing with strangers.

I don't believe I've ever been scammed.

I've traded over a 100 times on Nookazon, everything from items to villagers and haven't had anyone scam me!
I always make sure to check their reviews before to determine whether they're trustworthy or not.

However, trading IS a hassle and I hate how Nintendo kinda twists your arm into doing it.
I don't understand why a lot of the items are color-locked to your island.
You either have to trade, or have limited options when it comes to decorating your island!

And some people's greediness is unbelievable. 🤯
A couple of days ago I went on Nookazon to purchase an item that is worth a little over 1,000 Bells.
I decided to pay the seller 10,000 because I was in a hurry and I wanted to make sure they accepted.
They basically made a counter offer and asked me for 50,000 Bells......for a 1,000 bell item 🤨

Yeah, not ideal but it is what it is.

I've only ever traded as far as AC goes here. I haven't had any scammers or people doing bad things. In fact, I've actually encountered a lot of extremely generous people who will unexpectedly give extra freebies along with the trade just because they are nice and want to. I feel like the trades are also very fair too, where people won't expect you to give them stupid amounts for things. It feels like you trade exactly what something is worth, if not for cheaper than what it's worth compared to other places where people charge too much.

I have done trades for other games elsewhere and, while I have been careful and not run into scammers, I definitely have run into people who demand premiums. I used to be big into Pokemon (stopped before Sword/Shield came out) and did most of my trading on other places. Most other places people were really trying to get the most they possibly could. Unfortunately I could never get much trading actually done here on TBT for Pokemon trades, just because there isn't nearly as many people actively trading Pokemon here, so I did have to deal with the "high price" feeling elsewhere and getting frustrated over it.

So yeah, no issues with trading in AC. But I don't think I'd bother trading anywhere but TBT for AC-related things either.

I have only traded here on tbt and very recently due to positive experiences had the nerve to actually trade and sell some items. I have no experience on any other site so can’t comment.

I have nearly always had a very positive experience here and have met such lovely people who have become friends. At the beginning I was reassured by the feedback and always check out people I don’t know.

I wouldn’t go anywhere else and am really sorry that you have had a few bad experiences 💜

I've racked hundreds of trades on nookazon and have never had a problem on there. Is it overpriced? yep most of the time it is. Prices have come down a lot since I started playing and the hype has really gone down, but it is pricey but it's FAST which is what other places including TBR can not offer me. when I want flowers for a specific area, I don't want to wait the hours or days it's taken me to complete trades on here and other places. It is what it is.

I've never ran into scammers or rude people on nookazon because I'm an avid review checker, if you have reviews that are less than 3 stars then I'm not going to trade with you. If people are leaving multiple reviews saying you're scamming then I'm not going to do it. It's pretty simple to not get scammed on there.

I also always check to see if they have any info I might need to be aware of as its listed on the listing itself so it's pretty easy to see if there is anything I need to know before trading with them.

I honestly don't care much if something is a little overpriced, I've maxed my bells out so paying a little extra for something I really want is worth it for me.

I've only ever traded on here, and I've had pleasant experiences. I don't think I'd trade outside of a moderated forum/group like this anyway.

The only (sort of) negative experience I had was a random island I visited - we were told we could shop, and the owner asked us to water their flowers since they were trying to get hybrids, but after people did that, he cut everyone off before they could move. I had already shopped though, so it wasn't the worst thing ever.

I’ve, for the most part, only traded on here. I’ve mostly traded amiibo cards via USPS, but I’ve also done a few in game villager villager sales/giveaways, given items to people, and once used some app to go to an island to trade turnips. I have never had one bad experience.

The only bad trade I ever had was from Reddit. They didn’t know how to package cards and the card came to me a little creased. I still rated them favorably but I decided never again.

But here's the issue - quite a few items in game don't cost currency, they cost time. How do you account for the time you've spent?

The price becomes what it is worth to you, and the price the market will bear.

Edit (hit send too soon): The other thing - bells are almost worthless. I can easily make hundreds of thousands of bells every day. So can everyone else. So then bells are devalued and other currencies are worth more (NMT, TBT)

While that is true, it's is very rare to be the case
What items are you thinking of?
Things like gold sure, but the vast majority of things are not like that.

And it does not really matter to me if bells are worthless. To me NMT are useless as dont island hop. I just think people should just be more helpful to others rather than greedy.

Like yesterday I saw someone trying to sell a gifted audie for millions or bells. Like, dont be a jerk and just give her away, you don't want her any more.

Nookazon gives me a bad taste always. But I honestly love trading on here. Everyone is pretty generous with their prices (at least most of the time) and I barely ever have had any unpleasant experiences. Nookazon feels like the epitome of the problems listed though.

I like the trading personally but I also think that it's frustrating that it feels like you have to do it in order to get all of the different variations and whatnot. I wish they made them all available for everyone, not one color per island /etc etc. That's just forcing people to buy Nintendo Online. Which I understand from a sales standpoint but resent from a player standpoint.

I've always had very pleasant experiences with trades but I also don't really trade frequently and it's always only through online gameplay with people on here or via local play with friends so all my trades are done with people I trust who always provide very good and efficient trades.

While I'm happy trading I think it would be better if it wasn't necessarily needed for players to pick up all the items they want, such as different variants of the Nook Miles items, as it doesn't seem fair to those who can't access online play or anyone who has bad experiences with trades which has put them off trading.

I’m an avid trader. There’s usually one or more items I need to trade for daily. I trade items from multiple sites. I have never had any issues with scammers, and I’ve been pretty much trading since I joined these forums ( since back in new leaf). So far, I use TBT, Nookazon, and Reddit. I think all three are great.

If I want something right away, Nookazon is my preferred. To avoid ghosting, or people who don’t respond, I tend to offer on 2-3 of the same listing, and go with the first to reply. There is an option of canceling if the offer is accepted by someone else. Also looking at the status helps. Only bid when a person is in green.

If I want bells, then it’s TBT is preferred. It has the lowest rates. I also use TBT for over prized items in Nookazon ( examples include Gulliver/ Gullivaar items). I’d probably trade more here but I love my tbt ( so I much would rather waste bells and NMT elsewhere).

If I can’t find the items on any of these two, then Reddit is my last option. Also when I don’t want to spend NMT, bells, or TBT, Reddit is good with trading 1-1 items.

Never have I been scammed. I tend to stay away from low rated individuals in Nookazon ( for higher worth trades like villagers). I think the easiest way to not get scammed is not looking at rating. If the person have over 100 good rating, most likely not a scammer. If the person is selling new villagers for low prices and has no feedback, I’d probably stay away.

Remember when Raymond, Judy, and Audie back in 2020 were being sold at a high value on one of the trading sites I will not mention? I look back and the Value has gone down. It seems that people are starting to realize how trading villagers is a very long and tedious process. My friend who used to do a lot of villager trades has stopped because almost everytime she tried trading for villagers people take way too long and they end up messing up the trade. I would say Villager Trading in general has really gone down hill. It was a controversial thing at the time.

I saw Raymond last year getting sold for like 10 million bells and 10 million Nook mile tickets. I am not even kidding.....people last year were so obsessed with him. Why anyone would pay that much for him is beyond me. Hence the reason why I don't trust people who charge a price so high.

I’ve been seeing a lot of folks talking about trading villagers. How does that work? I’d love to get a couple of my bf’s villagers since he doesn’t really play anymore.

I’ve only ever had positive experiences on Nookazon, however I find the prices high and can be quite annoying to buy a whole set piece by piece. I’ll usually stick to Nookazon when I need a single item so that I don’t have to create a whole thread for it. But for full sets, I find trading on here to be more efficient and people are usually quite fair with pricing.
