Did the character proportion changes bother you at first?

Were you bothered by increased villager proportions?

When I played New Leaf for the first time I immediately noticed the difference compared to Wild World, not because it bothered me but because I really like the graphics of New Leaf, it was love at first sight💖

I mean, New Leaf was my first game.. but I have to say Blathers looks much better in the older games compared to this game :,D I think the villagers look a little better too? the player character looks good either way though

No, I never paid attention to, or cared about character proportion changes. I think they're fine like this.

As a former Wild World addict I really had no issue with the change. I also really liked the Mii head for our character.

A little bit, yes. I still think the small villagers with big heads are more cute! But i don't really mind it nowadays.

oh yes it was super jarring to me, it was like they stretched the characters out. however i have since played new leaf more than any other game combined and now when i play the other games, they're the ones that look deformed 😂

It didn't (and doesn't) bother me since I never played the older games back in the day, so it didn't take much to get used to the new proportions without them feeling off.

that said, I like the old proportions a lot. Villagersin AC GC just look cuter to me that way haha.

It didn’t bother me since I didn’t play much of the gamecube version or Wild World. New Leaf was the first AC game that I invested so much time into.

i immediately took notice - i wasn't upset by any means, i was just fairly taken aback because i wasn't expecting everyone to be so tall. as previously mentioned by some others in the thread, it's as if the characters have "grown up." i think that's actually a really cute way to think of it.

Never noticed since I started with New Leaf, but looking at them side by side I prefer the newer designs.

I started playing Animal Crossing games with New Leaf so this may make me biased but I prefer the post City Folk designs! Looking back and playing the older games, the smaller characters are cute and have charm but the larger legs of both the villagers and player characters add so much more detail. The taller animals tower over the little mice and squirrels and players can wear pants and skirts. It makes everything more unique in my opinion!

The only thing I noticed was Static started smiling more. It didn't really bother me, it was more like 'why??'. My guess it may have been scaring little kids. Still, I'm going to miss the days whenever he got mad; he'll be smiling.

I really like how they reference his frown in the photo that he gives you on both this game and New Horizons.

Not at all. They were actually one of the biggest reasons why I wanted New Leaf! I was especially happy about our characters' proportion changes! The pre-New Leaf look is still adorable, but I was super excited about our characters being taller, being able to wear bottoms and dresses actually looking like dresses on us!

I wasn't as excited about the villagers' proportion changes, but they didn't and still don't bother me. I like that the bigger animals (bears, horses, etc) are taller than or the same height as us now, and that the smaller animals (cubs, hamsters etc) are little!

The only proportion change that I don't like (which was actually introduced in New Horizons) is the sheep. Bring back their floof....

I do think City Folk is the best the series has "looked," it just looks really cute and charming. That being said, New Leaf is a much more enjoyable game so it's not a huge deal to me.

I'm not sure how to vote on the poll haha. I definitely noticed it and I didn't mind at all, but I wouldn't say that it was much needed. I actually like the way that the villagers looked in AC:GCN (which is also how they looked in WW/CF). if there was an option for "No, I noticed but I didn't mind it at all" then that'd be my pick hehe
