Do villager's houses retain all furniture when adopted?

Like if I replaced all of let's say... Stitches' cut toys and baby stuff with fossils. If he were to leave, and I gave him/sold him away to somebody else, when he moves to their town, will his house go back to it's original state or will it remain a dinosaur burial ground?

I believe it'll be how you left it. I remember Gizmodo telling me that one of his villager's house was a mess when he got them. x)

It'll stay how you left it. That's kinda why I prefer to get the villager in my town from the start, I hate it when their houses are full of fish and fossils.

Welp time to hope Stitches asks for new furniture so I can replenish his once cute home in case he ends up leaving

you can try mailing him furniture and hoping he puts it back in his home. his theme is kiddie furniture so send him that, it won't be exact but at least i'll be in the same vein. i had so many flowers i started sending them as gifts with letters to my villagers and i saw that they put them in their homes

This game could use a "reset villager house to default" dialog option- maybe after you visited their house, when they asked what you thought of it, it could be worked in there somewhere. So depressing to compare some of their cute houses with the unlivable messes that they become after a month or two.

Whenever I get a piece of furniture from a villager, I send it back to them right away, and if I want it later I order it from the catalogue. I did that with all of Stitches's kiddie stuff that he gave me. I also buy villager's items in the Retail and send it to them. Wolfgang's house looked AWFUL and he has my fireworks table >:C but I bought his modern bed and sent it back to him.
