When you have a steak, do you eat the fat or do you throw it away?

I personally like to eat the fat, but my family members don't. What about you guys?

**** yeah, that's the best part. The fact that there isn't a steak made with all fat is an outrage on itself.

lol you would hate my dad. He won't eat steak if there's even an ounce of fat in it (even though the marbling is what gives it the flavor)

Depends what kind of fat. There is the fat that is hard to chew and the fat that melts in your mouth. I love the melt in your mouth type ^_^

that's more what I meant, the kind on the outside that melts in your mouth. mmmmmmmmmm

I don’t eat the fat on the steak usually, or at least try not to, as I don’t particularly think it’s that healthy to do so. Also, not true that no fat = flavorless steak. If you can cook well or learn how to cook well and know the right amount of time to cook a steak for, it can taste good. Plus there’s always steak sauce if not...

Marbling adds more flavour and is what the meat is mostly judged by when it comes to quality. I'm sure without marbling, a steak can have some flavour but just not as much.

And I agree, I always like some sort of sauce on my steak. Or even better.. a bleu cheese crust <3

Some other fourth thing: I'm not a vegetarian anymore but I don't eat steak anyways. Just not really my thing.

Thank you for pointing that out. I’ll admit I don’t know a lot when it comes to steak, just that it can have some flavor without fat in it. Also yes, steak sauce and even better, bleu cheese crust is really good on steak. :)

Agreed, yeah I don't really eat steak anymore. It's really not that great imo, I don't see what's so appealing about it. When I did, I would cut out any white fat on the outside of my steak and DUNK that sucker in waay too much A1 sauce.

The fat that is marbled throughout the steak, yes. The fat on the edges though? Never. I cut that shiz off.

I never even knew steaks could have bleu cheese crust!! I'm just kinda amazed at the idea of two of my favorite things together I really want to try this now @ w @

Its absolutely delicious. Filet mignon that's bacon wrapped with a blue cheese crust is my fave!

nope, i don't eat steak and if I did the answer would still be nope because that's nasty. :(

I almost never eat steak, like less than once a year. I don't eat much meat and steak is one my least favorite kinds. Only fish is worse in my opinion.

However, back when I did eat steak more frequently, I would eat as much as I could, including the fat. I would only cut away the gristle that couldn't be easily chewed.
