Do you hate barold?

Oh yeah I'm asking because I sure as hell do. I just heavily dislike his appearance, like what is he, a discord mod??? a creepy old man??? goodness gracious I think even voldemort looks better than him.

Also no i'm not trolling, despite the "potential inflammatory nature" my post may carry. if you are seriously offended, please take a break from the internet because you're gonna have a really hard time with the irl world. (I'm not pointing fingers at anyone or anything, I just prefer to post this notice whenever I make opinion posts anywhere online because really soft people exist)

Nah. I don't hate Barold.
When I first saw him for the first time- he wasn't my cup of tea but as time passed, I think he's genuinely alright. Although I question the intent of his design... There are different types of appearances and designs in the world , and Barold just happens to be one of them!

I like him. You can argue that all villagers of each personality type are just reskins. Barold and Bones are practically the same. (Disclaimer that I believe there are two types of lazy villagers - being personality A or B. Barold and Bones could theoretically be slightly different but I’m not knowledgeable enough in that category to correctly subtype them, so I’ll leave it at that.)

Haha, there's a lot of factors behind that so I'm not really sure. But in general, I just like seeing the good in things. :]

And yeh that beard really adds to his ugliness...

I mean if he had a Hagrid like beard, I'd be more accepting but this guy dosen't even have a real beard, it's just some face paint.

I'm not a fan of his design, but I have a soft spot for him since he's my birthday twin (March 2nd). I've always wanted to have him on my island just so we can celebrate our birthdays together at least once lol. He definitely could do with a different mouth and a less ugly default shirt, but overall I don't think he's that bad!! There's something sort of charming about him.

He also does look pretty cool in sunglasses!

I think he's cute. I love his lips, and his eyes to match. He looks like he could be a highly fashionable critic with that adorable expression. He just needs some funky shades, so he can strut his stuff.

I neither love nor hate Barold. He's okay.

His design isn't conventionally appealing, but as with some other villagers like Katt or Tabby, at least it's unique and interesting in its own way. I tend to like villagers to have unique aspects to their design, so hey. It makes him more memorable than some generic villagers who can just blend in and get lost in the crowd. I never really looked that closely until now but after seeing seliph mention that he kinda looks like someone's dad, I can see that.

Also, after seeing Millysaurusrexjr's post, he does look kinda cool with the sunglasses.

I'm not a fan but my main reasons would be his pink lips (just not a fan of that style for lips in general tbh, and it definitely feels out of place for a bear) and the fact that he's a bear cub. Though the latter might be a thing with me disliking cubs as a whole. I honestly always found it strange how we have bears and cubs, because to me cubs are babies and their models are very,, child/baby-like, so seeing a character like Barold with the cub model makes me uncomfortable.

A guy with large lips, glasses, but at least keeps his beard from being a neckbeard? 2/3 of those things he was born to have (lip shape and eyesight problems) and the other he's styling. Would you hate a person IRL for having a similar appearance? Immediately refuse to be their friend? If so that's called being intolerant and being more accepting will enrich your life. Take some time to reflect on why you feel this way about a fictional character who was created with the intent to become your neighbor or even friend.

Actually hell yes, I would refuse to be someone's friend if they looked like that. Appearance is definitely one factor when considering friends. Sure you don't have to be Taylor Swift, but surely you can't look like Barold either...

Hate's a strong word, but I don't even dislike Barold! I think he's fine, he's just doing his thing!

I like his eyes and his little tuft of fur on his head! I also like his catchphrase ("cubby"), and that he has the play hobby! I enjoy that there are a bunch of unique-looking villagers.

I think he would look pretty cute with some new frames, so if he was on my island, I'd gift him some new glasses options! I don't like his default shirt, but I don't like that shirt in general; it's not specific to him!
